For many of you who are fans of Thomas English Muffins think that Thomas English Muffins are just a fictional company the answer is false. There was a real Thomas who created his famous English muffins in a bake shop in England and you can learn about him through a series of commercials that ran from 1989-1991. These commercials when you first see them may remind you of a British family movie and tell about how Thomas began selling his beloved English muffins and went on to become very famous in America. Even today Thomas English Muffins are still a breakfast favorite of everyone. As a fan of Thomas English Muffins myself I'm impressed that they still manage to keep the same taste. Why don't you have some fun and research these historic commercials and afterwards have a Thomas English Muffin for breakfast?

I hate to be the skunk at the garden party but those commercials are a fictionalized version of the product's history created for comedic effect. Samuel Thomas was a real person and he was originally from England, but the English muffin was invented in the United States in the early 1890's. Thomas opened a bakery in NYC in the early 1880's and eventually developed a product he called a toaster crumpet sometime in the 1890's. Eventually the name evolved into English muffin. English muffins are sold under the name American muffins in English and Irish supermarkets, they were introduced across the pond sometime in the 1990's.
