Would the series (https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1987-04-18-ca-926-story.html) have been more regarded instead of becoming a weird footnote of sorts from Fox's (https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/lifestyle/tv/1987/04/19/easter-carnegie-hall-and-humor/3dff24e5-94b0-4001-b736-6710fc8169eb/) early years (https://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/fl-xpm-1987-04-17-8701240609-story.html)? I bring this up because critics have since said (https://thiswastv.com/2013/01/09/right-on-schedule-fox-sundays-1988-1989/) that this was Fox's attempt at doing a more sophisticated, Cheers-style comedy for adults. So of course, when Open House (http://www.poobala.com/duetandopen.html) came around, it became a decidedly broader sitcom.
Unfortunately, such a simple, laid-back show like Duet (https://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showpost.php?p=6027291&postcount=5) may have not exactly fit within Fox's burgeoning image. It has also been suggested (https://moviechat.org/tt0092346/Duet/58c748a66b51e905f672c3f6/I-used-to-love-this-show-wish-it-was-on-DVD) that the Duet (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092346/reviews) was like (https://moviechat.org/tt0092346/Duet/58c748a66b51e905f672c3f0/Ellen) a proto-Mad About You.
