In Season 10, Danny met the woman of his dreams only to have her die in his arms

In the Season 10 episode "I ho'olulu, ho'ohulei 'ia e ka makani," Danny (Scott Caan (https://www.looper.com/770920/what-scott-caan-from-hawaii-five-0-is-up-to-now/)) meets an attractive woman (Kate Siegel) at a bar and they hit it off. However, as they head back home together, the pair end up in a crash after Danny is forced to swerve to avoid an oncoming car. The woman, however, is injured and ends up losing a great deal of blood. Danny tries to get help but they're in a remote area without cell reception. By the time the rescue team arrives, the woman bleeds to death without ever telling a devastated Danny her name.

The plot is definitely sad but it arguably feels off in a number of ways. It seems out of character for Danny to bond with someone so quickly, and that ends up explaining why some fans feel the story is so contrived. After the Five-0 member went through so much loss already, including the murder of his partner and a messy divorce, "Hawaii Five-0" subreddit user u/CaseyRC (https://www.reddit.com/r/Hawaii50/comments/jdk9ym/comment/g991fk4/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) felt the storyline only happened as "another go for PL [Peter Lenkov] to punish the character." Killing off an unnamed woman to torment Danny some more ultimately felt ridiculous, not poignant.

I remember that episode, and it definitely was off-putting and felt weird. Danny does not fall in love that quickly.
