lost out to applies to the same place and they both end up modeling bride and groom wear.

Is that supposed to be us "seeing Betty all grown up and married" since the show is about to end?

I have to listen again to one of those Youtube interviews (TV Legends or whatever that series was) to remember what Elinor Donahue said, but I THINK she said they didn't find out Robert Young hung it up till after the last episode. I think CBS wanted another season. (as it was they had primetime reruns for around two more seasons--then ABC took it up in primetime reruns for two seasons after that).

Had they known the series was going to end I don't think they would have ended with a repeat/recut episode like they did. They might have wrapped with this fashion show wedding episode.

They might have wrapped with this fashion show wedding episode.

Yep, other than Bud not being at the fashion show it would have been the best out of all of them to end with. The way that Jim is called the father of the bride and the way that Betty looks at the camera at the end and then the long kiss was about as close to a real wedding we would get.

It's too bad the show did not go on another year. It would have been nice to see Betty in a good career role or simply becoming a mom as an educated woman makes an educated family.

The fashion show episode could have used a second part. Maybe the guy, Cliff, would decide in part two he wanted another career besides retailing. Or the nasty manager would decide Cliff made too many mistakes and let him go--and hires Betty for the buyer job.

Then they bring Ralph back for his only season 6 appearance, and unlike in the botched proposal that kicked off season 5, he proposes again--and this time she accepts. Maybe they could even show her graduation.
