View Full Version : Threads you started that you thought were going to be HUGE hits but were HUGE fails?
Janice Johnson 02-17-2022, 01:56 PM On a Michael Jackson Fan Website, I started a thread called,"Celebrities who have not aged well?" Thinking this would be a HUGE hit. I got three replies all calling me a jerk for starting that thread and then an Admin posted something like,"Two week Suspension for disturbing the peace. Thread closed." I was stunned. I was sure this would be a HUGE thread, not a thread that would respond in me being called a Jerk and be closed after a couple of replies, me Suspended for two weeks and the thread closed. In hindsight, I shouldn't have started that thread on a Michael Jackson Fan Website since he didn't age well due to his plastic surgeries.

GentlemanJim 02-25-2022, 08:12 PM I'll have to admit, I sincerely believed that my "Does Joe Biden want war"? thread was going to have all the other members struggling among themselves for first turn to kiss my fanny. But it didn't seem to work out that way.

Yep, it is interesting that this very thread ended up being ignored for about a week before you responded.:crazy:

But it you consider everything that he went through, I don't believe that MJ aged badly.
Most of the threads which I start go nowhere. :(
TVLegend 03-05-2022, 02:30 PM Can someone please reply to my thread titled “The Mastersons: A project I’m currently working on”. I think it did gain 7 or 8 replies, but half of the replies were me, replying to one person. I’d really like some feedback.

Does the word “please” seem a bit too desperate?

That's what happens when you start so many.
At times I've counted and she's started 20+ threads on page 1. Almost all nonsensical.
Caroline13 03-13-2022, 10:52 PM I've posted a few on chit chat about life topics in general and didn't expect a lot of replies and didn't get hardly any, I thought I'd get some about "mother" thread, but nope....I guess too mundane for this crowd.
But the "browser tab" thread which to me is a nothing, got so many replies?????????

I was surprised the Mother thread didn't get replies. It should have. I'll be respond to it in about a minute. I promise. :)

You will never know which thread will take off or not.
Sometimes, people will just find it easier to reply to fluff threads and ignore more serious stuff.

I remember on YouTube a video about Alyssa Jackson, the Woman who faked Cancer and got $50,000, a free car, free meals, etc from concerned Good Samaritans, and was arrested, tried, convicted, sentenced and jailed, someone wrote this witty and original Comment. "She should be Sentenced to Cancer with no possibility Of Parole." His witty and original Comment was ignored yet Posters who kept repeating the same Comment about A Lyssa not being a Cancer Patient because her eyebrows were still intact got lots of replies and likes. REALLY weird.

The fluff stuff I normally ignore. So many people don't care and fluff excites them I guess.

Or they could need the fluff to relax from the harder stuff in life.

Exactly !!;)
James28 03-14-2022, 10:56 PM I have a few examples of this myself.
For example, I started this thread (https://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=403464) on Tyler Perry's post-COVID-Pandemic production bubble at his new Atlanta studio facility, even though I wasn't a fan of Tyler Perry's work. Still no replies on that thread a year later.
Other such threads include the "Franny and the Professor" episode of The Nanny (the episode where Fran appeared on Jeopardy! (https://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=248518), your thoughts on No-Compete Clauses (https://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=358001), and why compatibility matters so much in broadcast television (https://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=387945&highlight=compatibility).
I just HATE when I start a thread and it goes for literally YEARS without any replies from other users. I sometimes an forced to multi-post on such threads over a period of time, all by myself.:(
There are no huge fail threads. Every thread is beautiful in its own way, in and of itself.
Except that one ranking One Day At a Time episodes. That one’s pretty lame
Janice Johnson 03-14-2022, 11:34 PM I started a thread called,"Favorite Posters?" Thinking it was going to be a HUGE hit. I meant it to be a praise thread. It was deleted about an hour later and I got a message saying something like"You have been banned. Date Ban will be lifted. Never." I was stunned. In hindsight, I could see how a "Favorite Posters?" Thread could get REALLY bad. Creamy Chocolate could answer something like,"The Greatest GOAT is my favorite Poster." Randy Johnson could respond something like,"I stood up for you when the Board sunk their class into you really hard. The Greatest GOAT didn't stand up for you at all. Shouldn't I be your favorite Poster?" Creamy Chocolate could respond something like,"I never asked you to stand up for me. You did that on your own. I actually find you condescending and manipulative. I find you a judgemental jerk. Why would I choose you as my favorite Poster?" Randy Johnson could respond something like,"You're an Ass hole. I never should have stood up for you!" This could go back and forth. I could see why the Admin deleted this,"Good idea," thread quickly before it could potentially cause fighting. But I think a deletion and a warning would be sufficient, especially since I wasn't a huge Problem Poster and was respectful and polite on that Website.

My favorite was four posts up when you yelled at River for plagiarizing you. That was good.

Kind of a dishonest way (the mock scolding) to try and cover your trail, dontchathink?
While it never occurred to me that you might be sockpuppets, it did occur to me that the "two" of you should get together, having a great deal in common. ;)
I assume the both of you always vote the same in polls?
Furienna 02-08-2023, 07:25 PM You can see the same phenomenon with YouTube comments.
It is never certain that a comment will get any likes.
And a story that I spent six months writing hardly caught any attention either.

On a video about Alyssa Jackson who faked Cancer and received $50,000 cash, a new car, and an all paid vacation to Hawaii, free food. It was publicly found out she never had Cancer and she was arrested and imprisoned for Fraud. A Poster made a witty comment,"She should be sentenced to Cancer with no chance of Parole." His witty comment got no replies, and not even any likes for years until I saw it and commented on how witty his comment was and gave him a like. But the same mass produced,"I knew Alyssa was faking because she only had a shaved head and still had her eyebrows!," And,"Why did you to this to me!" Background woman asks,"No, why did you do this to your children?" First lady adds,"And your kids!" LMAO!" Got tons of responses and likes.
