Jackie has been through many jobs on Roseanne and The Conners, but it took 4 seasons for the show to reveal why she left her job as a police officer.

It established decades ago that Jackie quit the force after she got hurt on the job because they wanted to give her a desk job. Her boyfriend, Gary wanted her to quit because it was dangerous but Jackie wouldn't bow down to his terms so she left on her own terms. Then she started acting in community theatre.

No offence TMC, but you are flooding the board with every article you find online.
They are at best uninteresting if not straight-up crap, and hide the few discussions with actual comments on the show.

If you wanna link them would'n it be better to start a "The Conners Articles" thread and put them all there?

The Conners (Sort of) Retconned Jackie’s Roseanne Past (https://screenrant.com/conners-season-4-jackie-cop-retcon-roseanne-story-why/)

The reason Jackie left the police on Roseanne wasn't the version of events recounted on The Conners, but wasn't different enough to be a retcon.

They're only "uninteresting if not straight-up crap" you personally. Otherwise, I'm just sharing news about a still on-going and in production show. So I don't know why something like this annoys you when it's relevant to the show. And don't start this conversation with "no offense" since it's very obvious from the start, that you're offended by what I'm posting. Also, how is simply creating a tread called "The Conners Articles" going to make things better, when it's if anything, going to be much more of a task to wade through?

So what was the difference in reasons for Jackie leaving the police force? I don't watch the Conners anymore because the abc website freezes up after the first commercial and it's too annoying. I haven't been able to watch since Becky went into rehab and when Molly died.

In The Conners, Dan said Jackie shot herself in the foot and then fell down a flight of stairs. In the original show, Jackie simply fell down a flight of stairs after trying to apprehend an unarmed (and naked) perp; she thought he had a gun, but that was because he was naked. She then left the force because they would only give her a desk job after she hurt her back falling down the stairs.

As a retcon, it's not too bad, IMO: Dan didn't remember the events correctly, but he wasn't there for the fall in the first place. Jackie doesn't correct him, but she'd claimed all throughout "Roseanne" that she'd "been injured in the line of duty," making her accident sound more heroic than it actually was. There was a fall, there were stairs, and there was a "gun", although the gun Jackie tried to grab was quite embarrassing in the original story.
