CBS is getting into wordplay. The network has ordered a primetime game show reboot of long-running format "Lingo" with RuPaul Charles to host.
The series, which will premiere this year, is a cross between bingo and a word guessing game.

icecream 02-11-2022, 04:42 PM Ugh, not a RuPaul fan. CBS already had a major post Super Bowl flop with him on The World's Best. They should have gotten Chuck Woolery to host again.
AMackII 02-11-2022, 07:03 PM If Chuck Woolery boycott CBS with frustration & complaint about Lingo(the same show he hosted it on Game Show Network back in the 2000s) being rebooted under the hosting of Rupaul then Woolery would have a word with the CBS entertainment management in public.
Hawkee 02-15-2022, 04:56 AM I can't believe that this is gonna be the third time Lingo is revived and I hope it doesn't survive because for one thing how in the world did RuPaul get chosen as host for Lingo this time? As we saw when Bill Engvall replaced Chuck Woolery for the previous Lingo revival on GSN the ratings for Bill Engvall's Lingo were poor and the game was ruined and shortly after was cancelled. Why couldn't pick someone nice like David Spade or Dave Foley or even Jonathan Magnum from Let's Make A Deal would've been better choices to host. Because when Lingo made a comeback to GSN in a new version after a long absence since Lingo was originally aired in 1987 Chuck Woolery became a Comeback Kid and when Chuck Woolery hosted Lingo it got GSN very high ratings and was very successful for GSN. But just like Wheel Of Fortune if Pat Sajak was to leave Wheel Of Fortune the show's ratings would go downhill and with Lingo when Bill Engvall replaced Chuck Woolery for the GSN revival the game felt different without Chuck Woolery. I hope in RuPaul's version they give him a assistant like Chuck Woolery had with Shandi Hennessey too because that's another thing that the Bill Engvall Lingo lacked as well

HuntingtonM15 02-15-2022, 09:47 AM Lol at anyone acting shocked that RuPaul was chosen as host. Whether you like him or not, he couldn't be anymore insanely popular right now. Chuck Woolery is washed up. It's not too difficult to see why he was never a consideration.

The World's Best was one of the biggest ever post Super Bowl flops that was cancelled after one season. RuPaul does not belong on a broadcast network.

You honestly cannot base one show off his potential popularity on CBS. His star just keeps on growing as time goes on. In your opinion, why doesn't he belong on a broadcast network, because he's Black, gay or both?

Chuck is 80 (81 next month), so he'd actually fit in really well with the CBS demo :)
Lingo is quite big right now, only it's called Wordle. CBS should license the name and call it that.

In your opinion, why doesn't he belong on a broadcast network, because he's Black, gay or both? Way to make very incorrect assumptions. My dislike of RuPaul has absolutely nothing to do with him being black. And I did not know he was gay until you mentioned it. But his drag race shows are disgusting just from the ads. While Lingo has done ok, it is far from a hit on CBS and loses a large chunk of Survivor's lead-in audience. RuPaul is a horrible host, I have watched despite him and because of the gameplay.

To be fair, not all drag queens are gay and RuPaul *officially* came out only a few years ago, though I agree it was obvious.

He's been romantically involved with his husband since 1994 or '95 but they've only been married since about 2017.
