The Reacher star guest-starred as Arthur “A.C.” Curry (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YESZUq5Ri5s), AKA Aquaman, on Smallville in fall 2005. The following year, an Aquaman series, ultimately titled Mercy Reef, was put into development at The WB as it was making the transition to The CW. But instead of casting Ritchson, Hartley was tapped to lead the pilot. According to TVLine, Ritchson was recently asked on Smallville alum Michael Rosenbaum's Inside of You podcast about losing out on the role. “I wasn’t mad at all; why would I be mad?” said Ritchson, noting that at that point in his career he didn't have much experience.
