What "paternalism" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paternalism) means (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/paternalism) in case you're wondering:
: a system under which an authority undertakes to supply needs or regulate conduct of those under its control in matters affecting them as individuals as well as in their relations to authority and to each other

I bring this up, because I came across a comment (https://www.quora.com/What-is-one-TV-show-from-previous-decades-that-could-not-be-made-today-Why/answer/Jon-Mixon-1) online that said that Webster (https://web.archive.org/web/20061031143328/http://www.jumptheshark.com/w/webster.htm) was guilty of being paternalistic no matter how hard it may of tried to not come across that way.
