I found a list of every U. S. state symbols, mottos, nicknames, colors. I thought it would have been fun if we associated every character with a State. Hope you enjoy

- Mrs. Garrett (Maine): Their motto is "Dirigo", which means "I lead" in Latin. Edna is the lead character on the show

- Blair (Montana): Their motto is "Oro y Plata", which means "Gold and Silver" in Spanish. Gold symbolizes perfection, a quality that Blair thinks she has

- Tootie (Minnesota): One of Tootie's trademark is her mushroom hairdo. Minnesota has a state mushroom that resembles Tootie's hairstyle

- Natalie (Oklahoma): Their color is green, Natalie's surname

- Jo (Georgia): Jo receives a stone from Mrs. Garrett after the graduation ceremony. Jo was also a tough girl originally, tough like a stone from Georgia

- Nancy (Arizona): Nancy isn't all American enough. Plus, Felice is an Italian male name. Arizona is called "Italy of America"

- Sue Ann (Kansas): If you see a sunflower, you probably are on a farm in Kansas, Sue Ann's farm

- Cindy (New York): Cindy has a baseball glove in the first episode. Baseball is a New York sport

- Molly (Hawaii): Hawaii musical instrument is ukulele and Molly plays an ukulele during the first season

- Mr. Bradley (Delaware): Delaware is U.S. first state while Bradley was the first headmaster of the school on Facts

- Miss Mahoney (Iowa): Mahoney is a teacher, represented on a commemorial quarter from Iowa

- Kelly (Maryland): Maryland colors are black and white, just like those old newspapers that Kelly gave to people

- Andy (South Dakota): Andy first appears on the Eleanor Roosevelt episode. South Dakota is the location of Mount Rushmore

- George (West Virginia): George is always free, just like the people of West Virginia and their motto, "Mountaineers are always free"

- Beverly Ann (Missouri): Their image has two bears that watch the country, just like Beverly Ann watches the girls after Mrs. Garrett left

- Pippa (Texas): Pippa comes from Australia. The Australian flag has several stars and Texas is the "Lone Star State"

Those are very cute!

The only ones I would have picked the same state for would have been Sue Ann - Kansas, and Cindy - New York. I definitely associate Mrs. Garrett with Wisconsin and Mr. Bradley with Hawaii (because he went there).

Tootie I associate with DC (since she came from there), although it's not a state but a territory.

I had no idea my state was called he "Italy of America", but apparently it is, due to the mountains somehow being similar (https://www.netstate.com/states/intro/az_intro.htm).

Yes, Felice is a male name. It also means in Italian "happy" (sono felice -> I am happy). But I doubt Felice was happy when Nancy was written out :lol:

I can't find it on Google. I don't know if this was posted before but here's an interview Felice did several years ago

Felice's mother's maiden name was Mokotoff: Suzanne Schachter nee Mokotoff, which is a Jewish surname.

Felice's mother's side has a long Jewish ancestry. This guy is Felice's uncle and her mother's brother. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Mokotoff
