We know that there was talk of spinning Blair and Jo off to their own show based on their life at Langley. Did they bring in Kelly and Boots (even though Boots was not a full time character) as possible replacements for Blair and Jo if they went on to their own show?

I do believe Nancy was fearful that Kelly was "Jo 2.0." I believe this is why Pamela received (according to her) an icy reception from Nancy McKeon.

I would say Alexandra and Miko, from the previous season, were meant to be their replacements. Kelly was an attempt of making Jo more feminine, Boots was Blair's exaggerated clone copy

I think Alex and Miko were just coincidental. They didn't appear enough times to be "groomed" into becoming replacements. I think they were just their for their own story episode each and and one extra appearance (Miko) or a few (Alex).

I don't think they were thinking of spinning off Blair and Jo for their own series when Miko and Princess Alexandra appeared. I think they thought about having Miko on to bring more diversity to the mainly white cast.

Thanks for your replies, guys. Anyway, I'm really glad the writers kept Blair and Jo on the show. I don't think I would have liked a replacement, Kelly or Miko or Alex or other people

If the show was still set at Eastland, maybe. But the school was no longer the main setting and the retool happened four seasons earlier, I don't think it would have worked. Who knows
