View Full Version : Are there any musical acts that you thought would be big . . . TMC 01-23-2022, 07:45 AM But for whatever the reasons, didn't reach the heights that you thought they would? Janice Johnson 01-24-2022, 10:32 AM INOJ. Even as a child, I thought,"INOJ is a REALLY good and talented Singer. Her voice is so enthralling and calming. " She faded away into obscurity after two hit cover songs, Time After Time and Love You Down. To this day, I STILL think the way I did about her as a Child. She should have been a huge success. JO Sweet Heart 01-24-2022, 07:06 PM In my opinion, such a list may not have an end. The following are the first two singers who come to mind. James Otto-currently a country music one hit wonder Shane Minor-currently a full-time country music songwriter after getting as far as #20 as a singer in 1999 God bless you and them always!!! Holly (a day one fan of Shane) P.S. Shane's first song named "Slave To The Habit" is what took him to that #20 position. "Just Got Started Lovin' You" is the song that took James all the way to the top for two weeks in 2008. It was also named the #1 country song for that year. Hawkee 01-25-2022, 04:13 AM The singer I think that should've gotten more bigger in my opinion is Joy Enriquez because she was famous for singing the love song of the movie Anna And The King but when she released her first single Tell Me How You Feel in 2000 people were thinking that Joy Enriquez was gonna be as famous as Jennifer Lopez but after that single was released Arista Records dropped her and now Joy Enriquez is singing Christian music now. But when she sang ballads Joy Enriquez could've easily competed with Whitney Houston and Laura Branigan very well Bestie JO Sweet Heart 01-25-2022, 05:48 AM ^^^ The only time that I saw that girl was when she did her appearance on the show named 7th Heaven. She was good on there, her singing and her acting both. God bless you and her always!!! Holly Hawkee 01-28-2022, 04:26 AM Another singer that should've made it big in America was Lara Fabian and I remember when I first heard her song I Will Love Again I thought she had so much talent and when Lara Fabian sang I thought that she sounded like she could've been Celine Dion's twin sister because Lara's voice was so identical to Celine Dion's it was very spooky. So I bought her English debut American album and was amazed at Lara's talent. It's a shame Columbia Records didn't promote Lara Fabian enough and she should've been given a second chance in America. I found out more about Lara Fabian and her second English album was not released in America but her second English album Wonderful Life was released in Europe and has released albums in the French language since Bestie Hawkee 02-05-2023, 06:39 AM INOJ. I do remember INOJ myself because I would always see her singles in Kmart but since I knew very little about her I never found any albums of her but I heard her cover of Love You Down on the radio and I realized who INOJ was but the single was gone by the time I went to buy it. Another singer that should've made it big was a singer named Res "like in residence but pronounced Reese" and when she first came out Res was everywhere and Target would play her video all the time and when she first came out the critics compared her to Jewel and so when her album came out I brought it and was surprised at Res's talent and she was gonna go far but MCA dropped her but she released a Fleetwood Mac covers album Bestie Hawkee 02-08-2023, 03:25 AM Another R&B group that should've been successful more was a group called Allure. Allure was the brainchild of Mariah Carey who signed them as her first band on her new at the time Crave Records label. Allure's first ever hit was a cover of LIsa Lisa And Cult Jam's 1985 power ballad All Cried Out and when that cover came out I fell in love with the song and like both versions of All Cried Out too. After one more single Crave Records went broke and dropped Allure but they have released several albums for independent labels but Allure was a nice group that should've been given more promotion Bestie Edward216 02-18-2023, 06:15 PM Rockwell, whose real name is Kennedy Gordy who was the son of Motown Records founder Berry Gordy. He had a huge hit with his debut single Somebody's Watching Me, although I personally don't care for the song. I think it was definitely helped in that Michael Jackson sang on the chorus, he and Rockwell actually knew each other since they were kids. So I figured with that and him being the son of the founder of Motown Records he was going to be a big singing star. But that never happened, he released his second single and it basically went nowhere and Rockwell disappeared after that never to be heard from again. Ed. Hawkee 02-21-2023, 05:43 AM Another singer that also should've made it big was a singer named Tanya Blount and she made her debut in 1993 with her lone debut album Natural Thing and her first single was a ballad named Through The Rain and when she sang especially ballads Tanya Blount sounds identical to Whitney Houston and when I listened to Tanya Blount this morning I thought she should've been more popular but before disappearing from music she appeared on the Sister Act 2 soundtrack with a duet with Lauryn Hill. But Tanya Blount should've gotten more attention in music Bestie |
