I listened to music and found Chicago's debut album and discovered that Chicago was originally known as Chicago Transit Authority but I heard a story that they were forced to change their name because it was confusing with the real Chicago Transit Authority and they had to shorten the name to Chicago. Is this a true fact?

Hi, Bestie! Yes that was their original name! They must have shortened it because someone thought it was too long or something. Good eye, Bestie!

Chicago was originally named Chicago Transit Authority or CTA in the late 60's, but apparently the actual Chicago Transit Authority in that city frowned on them for having unauthorized use of their name so they shortened it to just Chicago.
They had this "big-band" rock sound with brass instruments before becoming a more pop band in the early-mid 70's.

Fortunately the metal band Municipal Waste did not mention a city in their name. :happyface

The 2nd album JUST MADE IT on the OROGINAL COLUMBIA LABEL in 1970 before they changed it to that not as nice looking one...

Terrible ppl complained about thier name,,, HOW IS ANYONE GONNA CONFUSE A TRAIN WITH A MUSIC BAND??

Just stupidity starting to show......

Yes they were originally named Chicago Transit Authority. But I heard they shortened it because the city government of Chicago threatened to sue the band over the name, because yeah they thought there'd be confusion and I guess maybe just because of ownership or trademark rights of the name too.
