I was kicking around this idea in an existing thread, but decided it might be more properly put in its own.

As most are aware, the so called "original" Unsolved Mysteries releases have been anything but, consisting of episodes with numerous omissions, cuts, and edits that make them far removed from the originals.

For purposes of historic preservation it seems that archive of the original broadcasts should be maintained, and I have decided to start my own as a pet project.

In doing this, I am going to start keeping a record of what episodes are "complete" versus "lost" and update it as I go. (Yes this is distinct from the stickied threads)

Where possible an exact original broadcast seems preferable, but if I can assemble one from multiple sources I would also consider that "complete" in a sense.

Most of the original broadcast episodes from the first six seasons were recorded by various people. After that it gets spotty with only a handful of recordings. Here's a list of recorded episodes by air date.

I would not be surprised if additional recordings are extant, but as time goes on those will become less and less likely to surface.
If I do unearth any recordings I have the gear to do high quality VHS/S-VHS capture if needed.
