View Full Version : Why doesn't METV really care about its viewers anymore?
Hawkee 01-04-2022, 04:56 AM Since Christmas I have been dealing with METV ever since we have had METV problems and today was the straw that broke the camel's back. I've had it with METV and their Chicago headquarters because they are the weakest link in customer service. When I called their Chicago headquarters today I tried to speak with a human being but they had a message saying their office was closed and it was 3PM PT and then they transferred me to a voicemail and when I left METV a message explaining our situation about why METV is having problems and I told them how they never called me back and the problem is never fixed and I even told them how my mother isn't able to see Perry Mason or Monk since these problems began and this makes me darn angry. I wonder if this is the way that METV is now treating it's viewers now? Because when I called METV customer service once they were friendly and nice and our channel went back to normal but METV NEEDS to be smart and start caring about it's viewers when the METV stations have problems and I think they will become the weakest link in retro TV. I was so mad that my Mom has switched to Cozi and we haven't had problems with Cozi as much as we have had with METV. But if METV could improve I think they could gain more watchers

Merry24 01-04-2022, 10:52 AM I hope your able to get the problem resolved.
It’s possible that Me TV’s Customer Services was closed because January 3rd could of been observance to New Years. My brother had January 3rd off due to observance to New Years on January 3rd.
May I suggest please if you call them later in the week. Give them time to get back in the office after the Holidays to get settled and hopefully you’ll be able to speak to someone.
I know it’s frustrating. Hang in there I hope you can get the problem resolved.
In the meantime enjoy Cozi The Munsters is hilarious.
GentlemanJim 01-04-2022, 12:56 PM Are you sure that the malfunction is a result of METV's core broadcast signal, and not the fault of your local carrier?
I mean, everytime I tune in to METV, it works just fine...I'd think that if the problem was with their main feed, then everybody would be having trouble?
Now, my local cable company doesn't even carry a feed for METV, so I had to go out and buy one of those "miracle" antennas that "pulls free HDTV right out of thin air", but since I did that, my reception has been pretty decent.
Some of the local carriers that just re-transmit someone else's signal can be pretty flakey, because most of these diginet subchannels are "low power" by design (as well as by law), so sometimes I lose cozi if I've got an old fan, or the microwave running.....and sometimes I have to repoint the antenna....but for the most part I'm happy.
I guess I'm wondering what the Chicago METV people are supposed to do if the problem is a result of your local diginet carrier?
I get METV through Spectrum Cable as well as on one of those inside antennas hooked to my extra tv. We haven't had any problems with it so far and our coverage comes out of Nashville. Hope you are able to get your issues fixed.
Hawkee 01-05-2022, 06:03 AM This morning I was awakened by a wonderful surprise. I finally got a voicemail message from METV headquarters and they wanted me to call them back and so I called them and what METV headquarters told me is that they would call my METV station and try to work with them on the problems and when I told them about our situation METV told me that a lot of the METV stations all over America are experiencing the same problem we have and one of the problems they are currently having is the channels get scrambled at night because Mom found it switched over to Heroes And Icons and another time METV switched to Buzzr and what METV told me is they are desperately trying to fix the problem as much as they can. Lastly they are supposed to call me back tomorrow to let me know if the problem is fixed

TheLogoMan94 01-05-2022, 08:35 PM Can confirm that the satellite feed has not been having any problems. It seems to solely be an affiliate issue.
stevea 01-06-2022, 11:09 AM MeTV should try to find an affiliate that has the proper equipment.
It really surprises me you heard back from them. They never reply to online viewer requests. Unlike Antenna TV, which is quite responsive.

That sounds really unusual. It would be interesting to know what the relationship (contract) is like between these local rebroadcasters and the network sources. We've got two separate channels carrying Buzzr here, three carrying Timeless/infomercial combination, and Cozi has moved from one frequency cluster to another.
Plus, we have a cluster that includes Newsy, Digi and two additional blank channels labeled just as "SOON" with a fixed sign claiming that soon a new channel will be offered.
So, leads me to wonder if these local rebroadcasters have direct involvement, or if they are just renting antenna space on their tower to the networks?
LeBestia, have you ever tried contacting your local middleman? (just wondering if they are the ones who encouraged you to contract METV direct?)

I was in the Ace hardware store and saw a Mohu Leaf indoor HDTv indoor antenna. I was skeptical that it would do anything so told the check out girl, if this doesn't work, I will be back to return. Lo and behold, the paper thin gadget pulled in 20 stations. Being at the bottom of a hill I was surprised. Paid about $45. dollars. It is not bad but do get several PBS stations, crime type stations and a few odd ball stations I have never heard of. TBD, spectrum,Twist. But 3 I was pleased with was Bounce, Grit and GET TV. Get Tv my favorite. Other than the PBS stations and a few crime station I do get with Comcast, I was pleased to see a few others. My feed appears to coming from Maine. I am north of Boston and only get CBS for a network type show.
GentlemanJim 01-06-2022, 08:21 PM Great to hear another success story!!
I would never even have known that Comet had a local provider had I not gotten the antenna, have not seen ANY local promotion or announcement, but once I scanned the local channels, there it was!
I'm really hoping that one of the channels "coming soon" will be Decades. Looks like they have a lot of content that I will enjoy.
Odd tip from my experiences: I have my antenna sitting in an upstairs window facing our local "nest" of broadcast antennas. I noticed that sometimes reception was really good, and some times not so good.
When it's really good, is when I have my van parked in the driveway right outside the window. I guess the metal roof helps reflect a signal up to go along with the normal path?
The little lady drives a mini cooper convertible, and it's not uncommon for me to ask her to move her car, if I plan to view certain stations.

GentlemanJim,
I did originally contact my METV station and when I hadn't gotten an answer I called METV's Chicago headquarters and they helped and left me a voicemail but METV has gotten even worse and it has gotten to the point where Mom wants to buy a new antenna for the TV and Mom has been missing her Perry Mason episodes a lot. I might call METV tomorrow and see what I can learn but this has gone on too long
