I just saw this one the other day where Beaver won't talk to his mom because she made him go to the store. Well, this post kind of goes with the post somebody mentioned where there's no teenage rebellion in this show and wally and the beav are so polite to their parents. In this episode I thought that Beaver had an attitude. It was the worst I've seen him act to his mother. The part where they're eating at the dinner table and beaver says to his mom "I guess I just have a sense of humor" like she doesn't have a sense of humor. That was really harsh!!! And what bothers me is that June just sits where like a slug and smiles. I would totally SLAP the beaver silly if he said that to me! June is WAY to nice!! Well, I guess that's just how she is.....

You are right, Beaver was completely disrespectful to her. Not so much as seen on other shows nowadays, but I know if I treated my mom like that, I'd definately be in trouble. I read recently at tvguide.com that even when June did get angry at the Beaver, Barbara Billingsly would thing there was no reason for it. So maybe Barbara is even nicer than June, if you can imagine that.

I know, another old post, but I had to comment. Beaver really ticked me off in this episode and it was really surprising that Ward didn't pick up on his creepy attitude much sooner then he did.
As far as June's reaction, maybe Ward had picked up on it sooner had she reacted differently. Even if June was hurt, she never showed it like most mothers by showing the least bit of emotion. I was sad for June...really! you could tell he hurt her feelings but instead of shedding a tear she just smiled and took it, she did alot of that during the run of the show. I think they (the writers) could have made her more realistic in that area because there was an episode (Wally and Alma) where she told Ward that mother's can't always be "fine and understanding", indicating that she did have some emotion about her and she was ok in showing it. I think that had June broke into tears, Ward would have taken the switch to his hide end....which he deserved!

I really felt sorry for June and Beaver's attitude over a seemingly small issue was uncharacteristic for him. This episode had a strange feel to it.

Beaver was going through his awkward stage of becoming a teen. He definitely wouldn't be the first kid that age to act like a brat to his parent for no reason.

Beaver was a TOTAL a-hole on that one. However, WHY didn't Eddie just run the Beav over to the grocery store then back home...and THEN exploit Beaver's ability to help install the FM stereo? SEE? Even when Eddie doesn't DIRECTLY create problems, his being around on any given day enables annoying consequences to occur! Also, Ward was uncharacteristically unobservant on parts of that episode. I think even Lumpy, at his DUMBEST would notice Theodore acting like a punk on that one...Yet, Ward didn't notice for a little bit there?
