Eyes Of Fire '83 :thumbsup: (Blu Ray - 108 minute Initial Cut, original title Cry Blue Sky; This is the original cut of the film before it was edited down to 86 minutes for theatrical release. And it's almost like watching a whole new movie. The beginning and ending are different, I wish they would have kept the original ending as the theatrical version is a bit cheese. Also some wonderful atmospheric moments were cut, and basically two whole side storylines, one being Fran Ryan whose character is given more screen time.

An American diamond merchant travels to Russia to sell rare blue diamonds to a Russian gangster.

His contact in St. Petersburg, who had the diamonds, has gone missing and now he has to come up with a new plan or he and his family are dead.



The movie itself was "meh", but it gets a :thumbsup: from me for the sex scenes between Keanu Reeves and Ana Ularu.

The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021) on HBO-on-Demand :thumbsup:

A biopic of televangelist Tammy Faye Messner (1942-2007). She and her husband, Jim Bakker, came from poor backgrounds and created the world's largest religious broadcasting network, PTL.

They hosted their popular Christian talk show "The Jim and Tammy Show" throughout the 1970's - 1980's and opened a theme park, Heritage USA. Referred to as the "Ken and Barbie of Televangelists", they became widely successful for their messages that differed from other televangelists of the time. Tammy Faye in particular was known for her glamorous and friendly image, her singing and puppet show talents, and her refusal to condemn homosexuals during the AIDS crisis.

Their downfall came in the late 1980's after Jim Bakker was convicted of fraud when it was revealed he was using donations to support their lavish lifestyle. He also paid a former church secretary to keep quiet about a rape claim.




Tammy Faye remained in the public eye after splitting from Jim Bakker and released albums, books, appeared on TV programs, and became an LGBT icon. She was open about her 11-year battle with colon cancer which she ultimately succumbed to in 2007.

Jim Bakker now sells products for "doomsday preppers" and got into some trouble with the FDA for selling supposed "COVID-19 cures".

A remake of the 2018 Danish film, an LAPD officer is assigned to a 911 call center as he's awaiting the outcome of an on-duty incident.

A troubled young woman calls and he suspects that she has been abducted. He tries to piece together what is going on as he has very little info. to work with.

I like these type of films where all of the action is happening off-screen.

The director mentioned that she wanted some of the cast from the original 1982 film, and its sequels, to cameo in the new film but it didn't happen since they could not travel to the shoot in South Africa.

He's constantly on edge during the investigation fearing that she will reveal to his wife what happened between them.

An actor and filmmaker, Shelly strove to tell female-centric stories, including the critically acclaimed film Waitress. But Shelly would not live to see the film’s release, nor experience the smash Broadway musical based on her work.

Tragically murdered in 2006, in a case initially ruled a suicide, she left behind a devastated husband and 2-year-old daughter. Through candid conversations with family, friends, and colleagues–including Paul Rudd, Keri Russell and Sara Bareilles–this emotional film follows Ostroy’s poignant journey to honor Adrienne Shelly’s legacy while also giving a rare window into how a family navigates unfathomable tragedy.)

This was heartbreaking to watch.

Trust '90 :thumbsup: (When high school dropout Maria Coughlin announces her pregnancy to her parents, her father drops dead on the floor. Her mother kicks her out of the house and her boyfriend dumps her, so Maria is left alone and homeless. This is when she meets Matthew Slaughter. Matthew is an educated high school graduate with a great talent for fixing electronic devices, but he can't hang on to a job because of his principled attitude towards quality. When Maria accepts Matthew's offer to help her, they begin to form a relationship with each other in which both of them begin to change.)

Adrienne Shelley's second film. I always wished she had done at least one more Hal Hartley film, as this and The Unbelievable Truth are I think her best performances of the films I've seen her in.

The film depicts the relationship between beloved children's TV star Fred Rogers and journalist Lloyd Vogel.

Vogel was estranged from his father and feeling the stress of being a new dad and is assigned by Esquire to interview Rogers for a piece on inspirational people. He initially feels the assignment is beneath him, but he eventually warms up to Rogers as Rogers' kind personality and beliefs on forgiveness rubs off on him.

All living adult relatives join at the family estate for a "game night" whenever someone joins the family. They draw a random card that reveals any game from checkers to hide-and-seek. However, if hide-and-seek is drawn the family has to hunt down and kill the new family member before dawn or else they will all meet their deaths.

I thought that the film was going to show more of young Tony Soprano, but he wasn't the focus of the film. It was more on Uncle Dickie and the 1967 Newark Riots.

I watched this with my daughter. I hadn't planned on watching a movie, I was walking by my daughter's room, and I asked her what she was about to watch, next thing I know I'm on the floor watching the movie.

A deputy sheriff and a newly appointed homicide detective team-up to investigate new murders that may be linked to prior unsolved murders.

They believe the killer is a repairman who works at a store within the proximity of the murders, but have nothing on him linking him to the crimes.


I wanted to like it because it had a great cast (Denzel Washington, Rami Malek, Jared Leto, Natalie Morales, Chris Bauer, Glenn Morshower), but the movie was just uninteresting.

She vows to find out who this man is and why her dad had him locked down there. I did not recognize Simon Pegg in this.

Director Monte Hellman and Warren Oates did several films together, Two-Lane and Cockfighter I think are my favorites. Laurie Bird was also in Cockfighter.

Up to this point, Jackie Gleason was mostly known for comedies, such as "The Honeymooners", so he really stepped out of his zone in his role as "Minnesota Fats". He received a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nom. for his role, the only Oscar nom. in his career.

Pool player Rudolf Wanderone took on the name "Minnesota Fats" after the movie came out insisting that the character was based on him. The Hustler author Walter Tevis denied his claims.

Paul Newman would go on to reprise his role as "Fast Eddie" in 1986's The Color of Money.

I liked this one.

Supposedly Nic Cage was offered the role of Mr Roarke, but passed on it. I find it hard to believe Cage said no to a film role considering some of the turds he's churned out over the years.

The Sleepless Unrest '21 :thumbsup: (The world-famous house that inspired The Conjuring film has recently been sold and is now open to paranormal investigations. With special access, a small group of filmmakers and paranormal investigators are allowed to move into the famously haunted home for two weeks in hopes of capturing evidence. During this time the group will be experiencing, investigating, and documenting every moment. Will they be able to make it through their stay? Do malevolent spirits still haunt this home, or is it something more sinister?)

I mainly enjoyed it because of seeing the actual house that inspired The Conjuring.
The people behind this were also involved with Ghost Hunters.

The sequel picks up directly after the events of Halloween (2018) where Michael Myers is continuing his rampage after escaping from Smith's Grove.

A vigilante group consisting of survivors from his 1978 rampage vow to get Michael this time.

I like this version of Michael Myers as he kills people like he's from the special forces.



Kyle Richards, Nancy Stephens, and Charles Cyphers from the original Halloween reprised their roles and the original Michael Myers, Nick Castle, also came back for some scenes.

The actor they got as Dr. Loomis for some flashback scenes, who was a production assistant, was a dead ringer for Donald Pleasence.

Michael McDonald (MadTV) is also hilarious here.

A successful mystery novelist commits suicide after celebrating his 85th birthday with his family at his estate. An anonymous family members hires a private detective (Daniel Craig) to assist the police in finding out if his death was indeed a suicide.

Two sequels were ordered after the film's success w/ Daniel Craig's Benoit Blanc investigating new cases. Knives Out 2 is set for late 2022.

They considered doing a 3rd pairing for a while, but did not find any projects they felt were suited for them.
