Maybe JC Penney thought that Miss McKeon ALSO would wear men's pajamas instead of nightgowns like Jo would have to a slumber party and they weren't ready to market men's pajamas for women or girls (never mind that the bulk of in-store buying of pajamas has been by women who were presumably buying them for their male loved ones but some could have been buying them for themselves)!

You rarely seen Nancy M. in any off stage scenes with the other girls for anything back then. They were the actresses, not the characters for the JC Penney product shoot.
