When he is in the hospital, the kids are worried and are talking about him. Kimberly tells Willis and Arnold about her burying Mr. Drummond in the sand on the beach and forgot about him and left him buried up to his neck all day. Kimberly says that her butt was redder than Mr. Drummond's face. So, this implies that he spanked her.

Maybe Kimberly was supposed to get someone to help her, but she just kept swimming and didn't do it. I'm sure there was more to the story. There was a reason she got spanked. Lol
