This is terrible news. Mr. Nesmith and Mickey Dolenz recently performed at a Monkees’ Farewell Concert at The Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ.

Requiem aeternam, Mr. Nesmith.

RIP Mike Nesmith. This hits hard. The Monkees are super underrated band. So many good songs from them.

With the passing of Michael Nesmith, Micky Dolenz is now the last surviving Monkee. I should also not that Nesmith wrote a song that was Linda Ronstadt's first hit when she was with the Stone Poneys, Different Drum.

Only 2 hours? That's awful! Mike and the Monkees deserve a lot more than that, like maybe their own plaque at the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame and a longer tribute on Me-TV plus a weekend marathon on Decades. That's only fair for one of the greatest music groups and TV sitcoms of the 1960s and one of the few US groups that challenged the Beatles in their prime.

I remember when MeTV did a Monkees marathon tribute for Peter Tork, the ratings were so good, that they decided to permanently keep them on Sunday afternoons. We can only hope the same will happen again, after MeTV took the Monkees off the schedule. The band and the show are both underrated. It deserves a home, since FETV stopped airing the show as well.

Yes, it is an insult that The Monkees are not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Apparently, Jan Wenner, publisher of “Rolling Stone” and head of the R & R HOF, does not like The Monkees and they won’t get in. Other extremely talented groups like The Association haven’t also gotten in because this Wenner guy personally dislikes them. It’s a disgrace and an absolute joke.
