Do you think Wally could have snagged Mary if Mary had come to Mayfield?
She was a pretty cute girl... better looking than the White Fox chick. Or was it the Curly Fox?

Yes, I think he could. If the shows had the same production studio they could have had some crossover episodes.

Curly Fox--LOL!

Mary's parents could be at ease with Mary dating Wally. Wally doesn't believe in touching, or God forbid kissing his dates. He won't have any interest in her angelic face, or killer body. He won't try to acquire any beer. They won't park anywhere. That might violate a city ordinance. The date will end with a handshake. Wally will keep his high school football guidebook in the car to check out that he's not breaking any training rules. If the date gets too close to him it's "gee golly I'm in training!"

And certainly no cigarettes!

In 1962, her recording of "Johnny Angel" reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

I would have liked to have seen the wholesome, all-American Wally Cleaver go out on a date with Thalia Menninger (actress Tuesday Weld) from “The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis.

Although, after successfully fending off the overly-amorous advances of the concupiscent Marlene Holmes (a/k/a “The Mayfield Messalina”), the ever-chaste Wally would have also probably resisted Thalia’s obvious charms.

Tuesday is WAY out of Wally's league. She is the bomb diggity.

They could have come up with a Zelda-type to chase Wally, angering both Mary Ellen and Julie Foster.

I admire someone who uses the word "concupiscent" in a sitcoms message board post. :talk:

If you look up that specific word in the dictionary, you’ll probably find a photograph of Marlene Holmes right next to the word.

(That’s probably why June didn’t want Beaver to pore over the dictionary for too long a time.)

Wally would have passed out after reading an entry like that in the dictionary. Beaver and Larry would have gotten the giggles and then thought that they were doing something wrong and that god could see them through the roof.

After reading that particular definition in the family dictionary, do you think Wally would have had a private discussion with his dad, Ward, in the Cleaver den?

Would it go something like "Dad, how do you know when a girl's appetite has gone from steak to well, steak"?

During the 1980s, several members of the LITB cast were guests on “The Joan Rivers Show,” including Barbara Billingsley, Jerry Mathers, Tony Dow, Ken Osmond and Frank Bank.

Joan Rivers seemed to be a fan of the show. At one point, Ms. Rivers asked Ken Osmond about the rumor that he had been an adult film star after appearing as the great anti-hero Eddie Haskell on LITB. Tony Dow quickly interrupted, saying: “Him? A porno star, no way!” All of the actors, including Ken Osmond, started to laugh uproariously.

Apparently, some people thought that Ken Osmond resembled adult film star John Holmes, who was the inspiration for Mark Wahlberg’s character in the film, “Boogie Nights,” with Burt Reynolds, Julianne Moore and Heather Graham.

I wonder if “Boogie Nights” ever played at that Mayfield movie theater where Marlene Holmes worked?

Here it is. It gets a little strange at the end. I wonder if she took calls on other episodes.

stevea,

Thanks for posting that video clip. I thought that husky guy at the end of the clip was the late Frank Bank, but it was the late James Coco.

Have you seen the “Family Feud” episode where the LITB appeared with host Richard Dawson?
