vitoscotti 12-09-2021, 08:04 AM Heard this on a "Nissan@Home" commercial. Thought it was a new song. Nope, done in 1962. Went straight to my all-time favorite playlist.

PracTz 12-09-2021, 02:21 PM 'I Only Have Eyes for You' - performed by The Flamingos (1959) but originally written in 1934 by Harry Warren and Al Dubin for the movie 'Dames' that debuted in the same year!
This song was something that not only would Wally and his gang have enjoyed but also Ward and June would have fondly recalled from their youths- and remains a timeless classic!

biffbronson 01-13-2023, 03:57 PM Runaway by Del Shannon, 1961
Ramblin' Rose by Nat King Cole, 1962
Poor Little Fool by Ricky Nelson, 1958 -- and more of his songs
There were lots of great popular songs in that era. Some of my absolute favorites miss the cut as far as year, like "Moments to Remember" by The Four Lads from 1955.
cd637299 01-14-2023, 10:10 PM Oh yes! All should be on YouTube…
“It’s All in the Game” by Tommy Edwards, 1958
“You Talk Too Much” by Joe Jones, 1960
“Mama Didn’t Lie” by Jan Bradley, 1962-63?
….and one that didn’t make top 40 but I heard it on an obscure-oldies show:
“Bad Motorcycle” by the Storey Sisters, 1958
Good thread!

GentlemanJim 01-15-2023, 03:30 PM Tommy Roe -- Sheila (https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=__Yw1xH1Wxs) 1962 probably my favorite of the era
Lonnie Donegan -- Does your chewing gum lose it's flavor? (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lbg0ZBXnuZE) 1959 Although I don't think that I was aware of this song until 1962-64, I was sure that this song was "code" for one of those things kids were supposed to know nothing about
Jimmy Dean -- Big Bad John (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnnHprUGKF0) 1961 I remember my Mom taking me to a Jimmy Dean concert at our local memorial coliseum.
