View Full Version : This Admin treated me much harsher than a WAY worse Poster.
Janice Johnson 12-08-2021, 11:04 AM So, I was a major Troll on a certain Website from 2018- early 2020. The Admin put a Posting Limit on me, making me have only ONE thread per 24 hours and 6 posts within 24 hours. He warned me that I was in danger of having a Posting Limit imposed on me, but I didn't see the warning until after it was already in effect. I stopped Trolling in early 2020, not interested in Trolling anymore. Even after I stopped Trolling, the Admin kept the Posting Limit.
A Poster who I'll call Peter was an even worse Troll then I was. He posted complete and disgusting lies about me and my Family, let's just say he claimed me and my Sisters were REALLY close and my Father was REALLY close to all of us. He falsely claimed I was a drug addicted Prostitute. These disgusting lies about me and my Family could have gotten me into trouble in the real world had I been say a Teacher.
He falsely claimed he was in a Gay threesome with two straight and married men, one of the men also has Children. Had the wives ACTUALLY believed the Gay threesome lie, Peter could have caused a double Divorce and child custody battles. I pointed this out to the Admin Multiple times, but he STILL allowed Peter to remain. Other Posters also reported Peter to the Admin as he was also harassing them. Peter was STILL allowed to stay. He didn't even get a Posting Limit like the one that was imposed on me and is STILL in effect to this day.
I'll just say that The Admin is an Eskimo(Not REALLY an Eskimo, I'll just use Eskimo in place of what the Admin actually is). Peter didn't know that The Admin is an Eskimo, so he made Multiple threads telling unfunny and offensive "Jokes," about Eskimos. Posters were like,"You're an IDIOT. The Admin is an Eskimo and you just signed your own imminent ban papers with your unfunny and offensive Jokes about Eskimos." Peter tried to backpedal hard claiming he loved Eskimos and didn't actually mean those unfunny and offensive Jokes about Eskimos. It was too late. The Admin FINALLY banned Peter when he saw those unfunny and offensive Jokes about Eskimos. Posters did call out The Admin for not banning Peter when Peter was harshly harassing them and ONLY banned Peter when Peter attacked Eskimos with his unfunny and offensive Jokes about Eskimos.
I don't get WHY Peter was treated much better than me when he was a much worse Poster than me even at my most Trollish.
GentlemanJim 12-08-2021, 01:21 PM Okay, lots of ground to cover here. First of all, you are a guy, and use the online name "Janice Johnson"? Certainly your right to do so, but it forces me to contemplate that perhaps you enjoy misleading people.....which evolves into a "reaps what you sew" sort of thing. (well strike that, I thought you posted that Peter accused you of being in a ghey threesome, now I see he claimed HE was part of the 3 some...my bad)
Second, you enjoyed trolling that board for some time, earned yourself a reputation, and then later wanted to get out from under it? Much easier said than done, many people pride themselves in being stubbornly unforgiving....feel like they are dealing justice to deserving villains, that sort of thing.
Third, the concept of "troll" is pretty wide and open to broad interpretation. There are many "in house trolls" most places, (including right here) who are just as bad as the most despised out cast, except they have managed to endear themselves to a sufficiently large peer group that they have made themselves "untouchable"
These are the people who who freely launch personal attacks against anyone who posts material not to their liking, despite clear TOS prohibitions against same.
In the real world such arrangements might be called "good old boy" networks, who work outside the justice system to deliver what they consider to be deserved payback.
My advice? Grow a pair and deal with it. I've managed to provoke most of the people who I don't care for anyway into the position where they refuse to respond to my posts anyway. AND WHAT COULD POSSIBLY BE BETTER THAN THAT?
Caroline13 12-08-2021, 02:07 PM The net has gotten more strangeness in the forums I've wandered into in the last year or so, it's bizarre and the power and control of the mods, YIKES, I mistakingly got onto a forum that was found by a KKK grand dragon and omg has that been a trip. Talk about Hate.... I hung in for a little while as they had good discussions and then all the hate and bigotry reared their ugly heads and I thought WHF and then did research on the group and yep KKK.
Janice, are you a guy or gal?

No, I am a Woman. I said Peter lied and claimed he had a Gay Threesome with two married men. I was not part of that lie.
GentlemanJim 12-08-2021, 05:14 PM No, I am a Woman. I said Peter lied and claimed he had a Gay Threesome with two married men. I was not part of that lie.
Yeah, my bad, I originally read it as though Peter was accusing you of being part of the 3 some.
Now, as far as why the admins were more forgiving of Peter, than for you....perhaps the admins and Peter share common preferences?
Might be just my experience, but it seems that an uncommonly high percentage of forum moderators are ghey. As well as from Vancouver Island, btw.
Whenever I encounter a moderator who claims to be ghey, I always ask "are you from Vancouver?" and a surprising number say yes. By the same token, when I encounter a moderator who claims to be from Vancouver, I always ask if they are ghey, just before they ban me...lol!!
I think there is an enclave there, or something.
Caroline13 12-08-2021, 05:20 PM I guess you mean "gay" and spelling ghey???? My experiecnes and I've run into a lot of mods, I don't find that so. But I don't care what they are, they need to fair minded.
GentlemanJim 12-08-2021, 05:29 PM I guess you mean "gay" and spelling ghey????
Yeah, several forums that I participate on, actively filter the word "gay", so, it's a habbit I've picked up to prevent seeing my post converted to ***, or what ever.
As far as "not caring",...no I really don't care what they do personally....it's just the activism that grows tiresome. And the funny thing is, put some people in a position of power, and thet just feel like they are letting an opportunity go to waste unless they -make a difference-...so the "ever forward" aspect has a tendency to come to the fore.
Perhaps gays on Vancouver Island are just gluttons for punishment, and that's why so many volunteer for moderator duties?
Caroline13 12-08-2021, 05:39 PM A lot of assumptions on people who live on Vancouver Island, do you live there?
GentlemanJim 12-08-2021, 08:09 PM No, but I've bumped heads with quite a few moderators over the years. :wallbang In separate and varied forums as well as time periods.
And the Vancouver as well as Alt/lifestyle theme has played out so often, that it seems to defy random chance,..and that's been a chin scratcher for me.
Dude111 12-08-2021, 08:14 PM What site is this that treated you so bad Janice??
GentlemanJim 12-08-2021, 08:21 PM It's just the kind of thing you distill, over time. You experience moderation, either directly or vicariously watching someone else absorb the wrath. So you learn to recognize the source as a potential threat.
Then, it might be weeks, or even months later, and you see that moderator mention in conversation to some one else that they live in Vancouver.....and there is just a little place in your head that goes "ka-ching"
Then, you witness the moderator make a "no-doubter" statement such as "Freddy Mercury's death being the most tragic loss the music industry has ever experienced" and you think (Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain) "why Freddie Mercury?"
Through time, it's just a pattern that repeats over and over, like an echo.... eventually you come to realize that surely more than just random chance must be at work.
GentlemanJim 12-08-2021, 11:30 PM LMAO! (Duane Allman, ...Buddy Holly,...Cass-Elliot,....Elvis,....Prince, ....James Brown,....Michael Jackson,...Brian Jones,.... Members of Lynrd Skynrd,...Buehler,...Buehler,..) ...why Freddie Mercury?
Janice Johnson 12-09-2021, 08:52 AM What site is this that treated you so bad Janice??
I'd rather not name it by name. That's why I changed the names.... ;)
GentlemanJim 12-09-2021, 09:42 AM Well, the encouragement that I'd hoped you'd find Janice, just because the person at the other board is a moderator, is no guarantee they are a rational human being. Misanthropes and malcontents manage to find their way into positions of authority all the time. And just because one has judged you harshly might not be so much a matter of what's wrong with you, but one of what's wrong with them?
Perhaps you are better off not being there?
Dude111 12-09-2021, 09:05 PM Yes I agree....... Most of the staff at city-data are not rational!!
Janice Johnson 12-10-2021, 09:10 AM Yes I agree....... Most of the staff at city-data are not rational!!
Hmm. City Data Website must be a crappy Website. I have heard Multiple complaints about City Data...
GentlemanJim 12-10-2021, 10:41 AM It's useful to keep in mind that there are differences between "source of authority" vs "authoritative source".
Just because someone has been put in charge is no guarantee that they are competent.
Dude111 12-10-2021, 10:11 PM Hmm. City Data Website must be a crappy Website. I have heard Multiple complaints about City Data...Its a very hard site to be on..... I have had over 500 accounts there........ What amazes me is they KEEP BLOCKING ME!!!
Isnt it apparant it isnt working?? (Some still are blocking me)
They have REAL PROBLEMS there and I am not one of them..... Why cant they just leave me be??
They have been rotton to Carole also and she did nothing wrong there!

Speaking of Admins being rotten to Posters who did nothing wrong, an Admin banned a Poster for writing disgusting things. The Poster's Roommate, who did absolutely nothing wrong was banned too since they posted on the same computer. Posters were like,"WHY was Francine banned? She's a VERY nice Poster and didn't do anything to get banned! Richard said those disgusting things, not her! She didn't deserve to get banned with him. The Admin replied,"Yes, Francine didn't deserve to get banned with Richard, but they share an IP, so I had to ban that IP, meaning she unfairly got banned with him despite her not doing anything wrong. It was a collateral damage thing."

That's the beauty of public wifi access points. Nobody is gonna block a Starbuck's IP
Dude111 12-11-2021, 06:26 PM Ah man!!

Yep, Francine could have just posted at a Starbucks IP, but it's nowhere near as convenient as posting from home. ;)
icecream 12-13-2021, 11:33 AM (Duane Allman, ...Buddy Holly,...Cass-Elliot,....Elvis,....Prince, ....James Brown,....Michael Jackson,...Brian Jones,.... Members of Lynrd Skynrd,...Buehler,...Buehler,..) ...why Freddie Mercury?Freddie Mercury and the original members of Queen have iconic talent. Someone considering him the most tragic loss would hardly make them gay. Lynrd Skynrd I don't care for. Brian Jones, Duane Allman, and Cass-Elliot I haven't heard about much. Buddy Holly I like some, but Queen is better with all their great songs like Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions, Don't Stop Me, etc.

Yeah, I guess there are trolls, and then there are TROLLS. Some more dedicated than others.
Firefox "Multi Account Containers" are like the ultimate power tool for trolls.
One person could have one account through a container at home, another account through it's own container at Starbucks, another account through yet another container at their local library....McDonalds.....Wendy's....Burger King..etc...and be virtually undetectable unless someone like the FBI was following them :D

There's always exceptions, but as a general rule I've found "Freddy Mercury Hero Worship" to be a fairly reliable indicator.... one ending up being right far more often than wrong.
It's not a matter of whether someone likes Queen's music or not. It's more a matter of the standards Mercury has to compete with in the group I've listed.
Similarly, in office chatter, you never hear a particular guy refer to his "wife" as part of his home life, but always his "partner"....it's not 100% air tight, but the smart money would bet he is talking about another man.
Not that there is anything wrong with that, just that you learn to read certain flags.
Asking "Hey, has anyone ever watched The Wizard of Oz with the sound turned off, and Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon playing in the background?" was another flag that used to be common on internet discussion boards...you don't hear it much anymore, but at one time I suspected the question was like a "secret handshake" among that particular group. :triplets

Hmm. A man who is talking about a Wife wouldn't call her his Partner, he'd straight up call her his Wife. Unless it's that weird Common law Wife thing where they aren't married but have lived together for about 7 years at least. If it is that weird Common law thing, he'd probably refer to her as his longtime Girlfriend...

Well, one never knows. There is always the possibility of a liberal using off beat terminology trying to make a political statement, or to provoke one.
I usually referred to women I was co-habiting with as "the little lady", "my better half", or at times "old iron sides"...lol
I used to have a co-worker who would refer to his wife as "the mother of my children" when they had been at odds with one another....whenever he'd use that term it was always "opps, all is not well in homeville, give us the details" ;)
I do get a tad annoyed when I meet someone new and they make constant references to their "wife", after it becomes obvious they are talking about a man.
It's not the relationship that bothers me, it's the "pony show" of intentionally obfuscating gender roles.

About using terminology such as,"The little lady," when talking about a live in girlfriend, some terminology is weird such as calling a FATHER your "Old man," to me, "My old man," is my GRANDFATHER, not my FATHER....:confused: What makes it even weirder is that my Father was actually a young Dad. I was born when he was only 22. 22! At 22 myself, I was still living off of my Parents as a College Student, not being a Parent!
GentlemanJim 12-15-2021, 03:51 PM Part of it too, I am sure,...many self described "activists" are actually seeking to be a bug up somebody's ***, so in a very real way it's hypocritical for them to claim they've been "offended" when they get exactly the reaction they were fishing for.

About that, a Poster said something like,"I actually am not bothered by you trying to rile me up and I enjoy your criticisms and insulting of me," to a Troll, and the Troll backed off. The Troll admitted something like,"You defeated my purpose by enjoying my criticisms and insulting of you!" The Poster said to the general Website something like,"This is how you deal with Trolls. Tell them you enjoy their criticisms and insulting of you and they will back off. Trolls are simple people."
