Faced with the rising cost of goods and freight, discount retail chain Dollar Tree says it will be raising its prices to $1.25 for the majority of its products

Sad to see the price change, but $1.25 is still reasonable.

Great for all the crap from China....I never shopped there anyway. Don't have one around here, 99cent stores but don't go in there either, smells like china would smell.

Funny thing about that, I had not been to a Dollar tree in about 5 years. But about 3 weeks ago I got the notion to go there, and just browse. Just because it had been so long.

Ended up spending almost $35...so I think I'm set for now.

I really wonder how much of the "supply chain failures" we are reading about are a result of legitimate influences, versus how many are a result of merchants seeking to exploit the moment?

I wonder that, too, but I have also seen the ships waiting to be docked for months, so that clearly has been a real problem as well.

For one year, I did most of my grocery shopping at Dollar Tree. My local store has a pretty good grocery section with off-brand cereal, a decent frozen foods area, dairy, etc.

This is basically the only place you can have a 25% price hike, and people are like “Meh…”

About a year, I discovered they have a great deal on greeting cards, 2 for $ 1 or some cards $ 1. Curious to see if they are 1 of the many items that will be going up.

I guess now they’ll be 2 for $1.25

How Dollartree can sell these at a buck (or buck and a quarter) apiece, and still make a profit, amazes me. (bought 5)

You couldn't even buy the replacement batteries that cheaply.

FYI: In case you may not know, if you have a Trader Joe near you, they have absolutely beautiful greeting cards for 99cents last time I bought cards. They beat dollar tree quality majorally.

Racist much?

I want nothing to do with communist life, do you, then I'm racist as that is china.

Communist china is working their people for pennies, so that their people produce cheap products and ship them back to the U.S. and other countries also, and mark up prices for huge profits for the U.S. money hungry greeds.

I had known this for a while. A couple weeks ago it was on our local news . The newscasters were bantering over a name change ! One suggested calling it the Dollar twenty five Tree and the other said the Dollar and a quarter tree ! :D

I think it's fine! I understand like other stores they have to keep up with inflation to stay in business. ;)I like Dollar Tree ( or Dollar and a quarter Tree) they have some good stuff ! :)Great selection of greeting cards that another poster mentioned were two for a dollar, now they will be two for 1.25 , I'm sure !;)
