Every year I can't figure out how this Christmas special has become such a big deal on NBC and I don't understand why it becomes a hit every year? I think Christmas In Rockefeller Center is a way to promote music stars so people have something to look forward to while waiting for the tree to light up. Another thing I noticed about Christmas In Rockefeller Center is I think they copied the New Year's Eve shows by putting a countdown clock to the tree lighting ceremony and by filling the hour with celebrity interviews discussing Christmas plans and family life and to me it is a waste of time

It used to be one hour. They recently expanded it to two hours. Way too much singing. I only tune in for the last 15 minutes to see the Rockettes and the tree lighting.
