Would Tootie be put on roller-skates for the Norman Lear special?

Even though she wasn't on them during the Jo era, maybe they can put her on them for nostalgic purposes.

If they do a S1 episode, yes she should be on skates. If they do S2-4, no, as she does not wear skates during those seasons (they hang from a hook or you see them in the scene, but she doesn't wear them).

That would be a fun throwback. Even though it's gonna be a cafeteria episode, it would definitely stick out to fans.

It would be cool but I think they should stick with what era they’re in.

If they do a cafeteria episode, there's no need to put her on rollerskates. It would be a little continuity nod but the actress who is going to play Tootie is 49, it would be "strange" with a pair of rollerskates

Well, a lot of people think it's strange to have 40, 50, and even 60 something actors play the roles of teens.

Exactly. They threw all authenticity out the door when they use adults to play teens. So they might as well throw a bunch of Facts nostalgia into one episode, lol.

It wouldn't be a strange as when Aisha Tyler, who stands at 6'0", wore rollerskates while "cosplaying" on Tootie when Lisa Whelchel stopped by to CBS' The Talk to put back on her Eastland uniform:

Yeah, I remember that. The skates made her a foot taller than everyone else. She looked like Wilt Chamberlain.

Lisa donning the Eastland uniform was amazing. She looked awesome. I just wish they had gotten the tie color correct. Blue tie with the maroon vest, people! The maroon tie only goes with the blue sweater or blue blazer!

It's amazing how great LISA still looks, considering she is the oldest FOL girl out of the 'Core of 4!'

I wonder if that was one of the uniforms Lisa wore on the Facts of Life?

I don't believe so. The Eastland patch (badge) on the left (their left) doesn't closely resemble the real Eastland patch. Theirs are mostly blue while the real Eastland patch was mostly yellow. It's close enough that it doesn't bug me like the very incorrect color of the ties, but here are real Eastland patches for comparison. Notice also the girls' maroon vests have shiny buttons.

I think they all look amazing, but Lisa looks "Picture of Dorian Gray" amazing!

I'll echo RetroGuy and say, yep, if it's season 1, I'm all for it. But if it's beyond that, no. But judging that they're veering off a little bit and having middle-aged women play teenagers, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't keep true to the show and have Tootie on roller skates for comedic effect, whether it makes sense or not.

Well, for those who saw Lisa on the recent Live in Front of a Studio Audience (https://ew.com/tv/the-facts-of-life-original-cast-members-reunite-on-live-in-front-of-a-studio-audience/) special on ABC, she wore the correct tie color:

Indeed, she got the right color tie this time. Bravo, Lisa, and thank you!

She sang the theme song quite beautifully.

I also love how Kim called Norman Lear "Uncle Norman". :eyes:
