Sad to find out that Coach is leaving.
1960'sTVfan 11-25-2021, 01:20 PM Good to see Bachelor Father is returning to Antenna TV, not a show that I want to record but I will probably watch some episodes occasionally. I'm glad I recorded all the Joey Bishop Show episodes since that show isn't on the schedule currently.
stevea 11-25-2021, 02:41 PM They are really shuffling daytime. The last time they showed Bachelor Father, it was unedited, full episodes. It would be great if that were still the case. There were also a fair amount of missing later episodes--we'll see if that has changed.
I'd really like to see Sony upgrade the quality of Father Knows Best, but that won't happen.
LTCProductions 11-25-2021, 02:53 PM Benny Hill's back, huh? I'm interested.
Big D In Charge 11-25-2021, 04:03 PM Well I never cared for Coach or Gimmie A Break. Never saw Benny Hill either.
AMackII 11-25-2021, 04:08 PM When It Comes to Family Ties, Dear John, Silver Spoons & Too Close For Comfort, These 4 shows(along with the Threes Company’s 1984 spinoff titled Three’s a Crowd) are the only post-1979 classic shows left over on Antenna TV’s once Gimme A Break & Coach leaves in early January once the new year arrives.
Alan Brady's Hair 11-26-2021, 06:15 PM Benny Hill's back, huh? I'm interested.
It's odd that the subchannel networks seldom use UK programming. They've used very short-lived shows on weekends, so you'd think some UK programming could fit in those slots.
Plater of Everything 11-27-2021, 12:57 PM I'll miss Coach, but I look forward to Benny Hill
SarahBellum 11-27-2021, 02:10 PM I guess that's why they did the Coach marathon this weekend.
Samme 11-27-2021, 03:33 PM If the rights to Coach are expiring, I wonder where it might end up? They had it in a wrong time slot for it to draw any attention. I like it and I didn't watch it at 11PM. It can't compete with Seinfeld.
Most of the shows on Antenna were never top tier shows. Not Coach either, but when you stick with it, it's a very good show.
Merry24 11-28-2021, 04:42 PM Antenna TV 1st Quarter 2022 looks great! I’m looking forward to having Bachelor Father Return! Antenna TV did a wonderful job Freshining it’s Regular Schedule. (Me TV take note)! lol!
The Stunts look really good as well!

Svenfan1234 11-30-2021, 03:51 PM This is an awesome schedule, I think, and one of their best overall. It's good to see this much variety, although I wish they'd pick up shows they've never shown before (maybe My Favorite Martian, The Courtship of Eddie's Father, The New Dick Van Dyke Show, and others could be considered?) Alice is a strong improvement at 11PM over Coach and this is what makes me wish Antenna would publicize their ratings. Johnny Carson staying at 10PM is very good and Bachelor Father returning after many years is very good news. And...maybe...wishful thinking, but maybe at some point in the future, Julia & Room 222 will be added...one can hope! Overall, awesome schedule!
Mr. Television 11-30-2021, 06:18 PM It's great that Bachelor Father is going to be seen again. It's been far too long.
Svenfan1234 12-21-2021, 03:59 PM It's interesting that while Gimme a Break has been snatched up by Cozi (who has more of a relationship to Universal than Antenna, by the way), Coach from the distributor hasn't been snatched up by any other digital channel. Compare this with when All in the Family, Good Times, and Sanford and Son expired from Antenna. Get TV snatched them up and aired them right when Antenna stopped airing them in 2018. Why? Because they were insanely popular (not sure about Gimme a Break), and thus more in demand (and plus, Get TV IS owned by Sony). I guess maybe Coach wasn't a success at all or otherwise Cozi or GetTV would've snatched it up. LAFF would never pick it up because one: they don't have a relationship with Universal currently and 2: They've never picked up shows that were on other networks. I don't expect that to change. However, Antenna and Rewind aren't like that and will pick up other shows. Just something I found interesting.
icecream 12-21-2021, 04:41 PM So what if LAFF hasn't picked up Universal shows before? Your hatred for Coach makes you say they won't, as you just said Antenna doesn't have much of a relationship with Universal yet they still aired Coach a lot and also aired Gimme a Break. Home Improvement and That 70s Show have aired on a bunch of other networks, so LAFF gets shows that were syndicated elsewhere as well. Coach aired with Home Improvement and Grace Under Fire originally on ABC, so it would be very compatible on LAFF. In its entire run on Antenna TV Coach always aired between 10PM-1AM for its regular slots, never got pushed to 3 or 4AM like you wanted. And Coach got a bunch of marathons, Antenna wouldn't have given it that many marathons if it didn't do well. Advertisers would flee en masse during those marathons if Coach really did poorly. Antenna TV also dropped Three's Company at one point for over a year and it didn't come to another diginet, guess that didn't do well either. Too Close for Comfort and Bachelor Father were also gone for a long time and are back now. Sadly it looks like you used to be a Coach fan but really turned on a wonderful show. I saw your post on the Coach board being happy about it being released on DVD. I don't want it on Get or Cozi anyway as I don't get those channels, no one at Universal said we refuse to work with LAFF. But if you are right about Universal, then it wasn't even Antenna TV's decision to let the contract expire. Universal just didn't want their shows on Antenna TV anymore in the typical dumb fashion cheap distributors like Sony just have a bunch of their shows collecting dust in vaults. And if Universal won't work with LAFF, LAFF may very well want Coach but miserly Universal refuses to let it air.
Svenfan1234 12-21-2021, 05:03 PM So what if LAFF hasn't picked up Universal shows before? Home Improvement and That 70s Show have aired on cable mainly but the other digital channels have not aired it since. LAFF has *never* and I repeat never aired a show either from Universal or that another over the air diginet has aired that their parent company didn't own with A Different World being an exception to the rule. Three's Company didn't air on others, I will admit that, but that was 2012-14 and prior to when many diginets like LAFF and GetTV came on the scene. My point was a rebuttal to your saying it's soooo popular and how you think Laff would pick it up--don't get your hopes up in that aspect. Grace Under Fire also never aired on an over the air diginet until Laff. Antenna also has aired Jack Jenny and Leave It to Beaver from Universal, so yes they somewhat have a relationship with them as compared to Laff who only airs Disney and Casey-Werner shows. All in the Family, for example, was barely off reruns when Get picked it up. They have potential as seeing as they have Universal shows, so again, time will tell. But the fact that we aren't seeing it anywhere after Antenna's expiration proves my point that it wasn't popular otherwise we would be seeing it elsewhere pretty much automatically. During the 2012-14 timeframe there was less competition for Antenna so your point is moot about Three's Company and the fact that it was only off for a year or so and hasn't been removed since. And no, likely once Home Improvement expires from Laff, it likely won't air over the air again but that's because of Disney not really dealing with diginets other than Laff currently. In six years, there has not been a single show that Antenna has aired that has later aired on Laff. Get TV and Cozi I could see, however, so let's see in the next couple years or so. My point is that had been id, the other diginets would know and nab the rights to a show they would see as successful. They haven't. So therefore it wasn't popular at all, just a "so-so" show in terms of popularity. I've , and others, have debunked your point about Coach being a ratings hit on Antenna several times so I won't go over that again. I certainly am glad that weak link in Antenna's lineup has been eliminated, and I never was happy about the DVD. That's your interpretation, and I was merely reporting facts about the release. It's one of the worst sitcoms ever, and it's clearly a syndication flop, and I'd say chances are low it'll be in syndication ever again. So get over the fact that I dislike Coach, and see these factual statements instead of your opinion based statements. And get over the fact that it'll be off Antenna.
Svenfan1234 12-21-2021, 05:11 PM Bachelor Father is distributed by Universal, too, by the way.
Also, off the "Coach" argument, which has been beaten to death :horse:, I will say this as my final argument: icecream's opinion of Coach is his own, and he loves the show, and I don't share the same view. And that's okay.
icecream 12-21-2021, 05:28 PM Your "factual statements" are just a manifestation of your hatred for Coach. It wouldn't have continually aired in prime hours between 10PM-1AM if it was a giant flop. Their insider said it kept doing well enough to air right after Carson, that is certainly not a weak link or a flop like you have always claimed. Anyone who isn't prejudiced against this wonderful show (hardly one of the worst sitcoms of all time ) would see that it got good hours on Antenna TV and it never got sent to a graveyard hour like you wanted. Coach was not a weak link in the lineup as a hater like you claims. Now Alice, there is a piece of crap show that is totally worthless quality wise. Just because something expires doesn't mean it was a flop. Columbo was a giant flop on Me TV. No, its pathetic distributor refused to let MeTV renew the contract, probably the same thing with Coach and Antenna TV. Also, Home Improvement will not be expiring from LAFF any time soon. It is one of their aces and they sure wouldn't want to lose it. 6 years is pretty young for a diginet, just because they haven't aired shows that were on Antenna or Universal owned doesn't mean they won't. Coach has been more popular than Grace Under Fire in syndication airing in several more places. But if it's true Universal refuses to work with LAFF, then that is Universal's decision, not LAFF's. You have complained about LAFF not adding much new shows. But with what you are saying about Universal, that company keeps several good shows from networks like LAFF they don't like, so LAFF doesn't have much choice available in what they can add.
icecream 12-21-2021, 05:32 PM Also, off the "Coach" argument, which has been beaten to death :horse:, The Coach discussion had died down until today when a hater like you gleefully posted AGAIN about it not being a success at all (which is the dead horse you keep beating). I was simply responding to that hatred. You were the one who brought this Coach bashing up yet again today, it could have remained a dormant issue as I hadn't said anything about it in this thread for a few weeks. In fact I hadn't brought up Coach at all in the new thread except for posting the new schedule.

Has Home Improvement aired on any other digital channel than LAFF? Or Grace Under Fire? Or That 70s Show? Or just primarily cable syndication?
Antenna's been around for 10 years, almost 11.
Columbo is airing on Cozi starting January 1st, not that long at all after MeTV lost the rights from Universal.
Gimme a Break is airing on Cozi starting January 3rd, not that long at all after Antenna lost the rights from Universal.
Amen, also, is airing on Cozi starting January 3rd, not that long at all after Get is stopping to air it, also from Universal.
I doubt Universal is "keeping" shows from LAFF. I do think that LAFF prefers Disney over other distributors since they have shows that other diginets have not aired.
Also, Murphy Brown aired after Johnny Carson for a good period of time. Now Alice will, but other shows have.
All in the Family, Good Times, and Sanford and Son went to Get almost immediately after they all expired from Antenna.
Svenfan1234 12-21-2021, 05:37 PM ^The facts that I presented up front are all 100% accurate. Coach was a flop for Antenna, and a huge disaster for them. Get over it. Your love for Coach is fine, like I said, but your blatant disregard for reality and insisting that Coach was one of their most popular shows is really bordering on an alternate reality that does not exist. Those are the facts I presented up above, you can deny them all you want like you like to do, it doesn't change the fact that Coach is nowhere to be seen unlike Gimme a Break, Amen, Columbo, All in the Family, Good Times, and Sanford and Son that were so popular on Antenna (and Get) that they were immediately picked up because of the diginets' knowledge of the other (competition). And yet you cannot provide me with one shred of evidence why Coach isn't among these shows, you can only deflect and present me with your insane alternate reality. I'm done with these conversations, because it's clear I'll never convince you when you keep on deflecting and misrepresenting my arguments about the shows that were ultimately more popular than Coach -- and yes, Columbo is one of them! I'm done. Done. Done. Done. :horse:
Svenfan1234 12-21-2021, 05:39 PM Also, Alice polled well above the top 10 shows in Antenna's survey.
Coach did not.
So, clearly majority of Antenna viewers do not think Alice is a piece of crap show, which it is so much above the quality of shows like Coach.

He said Family Ties and The Facts of Life always did poorly on Antenna TV despite finishing in the top 10. So that is hardly a clear majority of viewers, just random internet voters who don't reflect the true ratings.
icecream 12-21-2021, 05:46 PM ^The facts that I presented up front are all 100% accurate. Coach was a flop for Antenna, and a huge disaster for them. Get over it. Anyone who is thinking straight can see that airing between 10PM-1AM and never getting sent to a graveyard hour is not flopping. Since when are those considered bad hours? only by extreme haters like you. Your exteme hatred for Coach prevents you from ever saying anything good about it. You can't provide one shred of evidence that says Coach had horrible ratings. You just take any opportunity you can to gloat about Coach doing terrible. I am getting fed up with it. I had not said a word about Coach in this thread besides posting the schedule until you bashed it yet again today. You are the one who continues to beat that dead horse and won't let it stay dead.
Mr. Television 12-21-2021, 07:48 PM Coach was a great show. Hopefully it will return soon.
mets82 12-22-2021, 01:05 AM I never watched Coach. We should be thankful we have a network willing to show classic shows. I also think that what we think is good is subjective. Just because one person likes a show doesn't someone else will.
I haven't watched Antenna TV in ages. I have xfinity stream which I stream on my laptop and Antenna TV, ME-TV, Heroes and Icons and the rest of the channels are too far down the line for me to watch. Also, Antenna TV cuts the credits and try to appreciate the channel, but I just can't watch the shows with the credits crunched.
Also, I think the shows that they show, the sound is low. I could hardly hear the dialogue. I don't know if that's the quality or Antenna TV not paying extra for better quality of the shows.
I mean we should be thankful we have a network that plays classic shows. I just think they can improve on it somehow.
merlinjones 01-05-2022, 09:23 AM I'm very happy with the schedule shift of Bewitched and Jeannie from 10-12 AM (PST) to 12-2 PM (PST) as they are now on during the period I usually take lunch and I will be able to watch at least some of the block more often.
(Jeannie, however does not flow naturally into Welcome Back Kotter (yuck - what does?) - they should put Gidget, Flying Nun, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, Nanny and the Professor or My Favorite Martian in that slot)
