Not to be a Thanksgiving Debbie Downer, but I REALLY don't think Thanksgiving needs TWO days. The day after Thanksgiving should be a normal school day for instance.

Our turkey is still frozen, so we won't be having Thanksgiving dinner until tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!!! I'm spending or spent my day being by myself. It's the 5th Thanksgiving in a row that I have spent alone. I had turkey, alright which were 2 TV dinners which was roast Turkey. I told people who asked that I was going to a friends house. I just was embarrassed, I guess, to tell the truth. And honestly, if somebody was to invite me to Thanksgiving dinner I really wouldn't go just because I don't know anybody. I'm with a full of strangers and that would make me scared, uncomfortable and nervous.

The thing is that when my mom passed away almost 4 years ago this December, the holidays died with her and with me. :(

I am the same as you mets82, I live alone and baked a frozen turkey dinner in the oven today for Thanksgiving. Not quite as good as the traditional Thanksgiving meal but it's a decent substitute. My mom passed away in 2007, I was close with her so I understand what you are going through.

Without going into details, I had a big disappointment last year with regards to my personal life, I'm not at all happy about it but life goes on. I cannot dwell on disappointment and what I do not have but I can be thankful for what I have and I do have much to be thankful for.

Take comfort in knowing that while your mom is no longer with you in person, she lives on in your heart, she is your heavenly guardian angel and watches over you.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and everyone.

I hope she is watching over me. I'm doing my best to make her proud. I miss her every day. She passed away in December of 2017, so the holidays don't really mean anything anymore. I also had a ham steak that fell on the floor but luckily it was a package of 2 so I ate the other one.
I'm also sorry you went through what you went through. I mean don't misunderstand. Holidays are tough for me but I try to move on with my life every day even though it's very hard.

Is it wrong that the most exciting moment of the year is when that turkey thermometer FINALLY pops up?

Oh No! What happened?

My mom has a head cold, and the turkey isn't frozen and thawed enough.

This has been a repetitive theme with you. People (including me) have said to you that no one will make your life better but you. Unfortunately you don't yet seem to believe that, but it is true. You have to make yourself into a person that people want to be with. Believe it or not, you can change. I know that you see yourself as having the word 'loser' tattooed on your forehead that everyone can see from a mile away but that isn't the case. If you act upbeat to people you don't know that's how they will see you. The more you are with people, the easier it becomes. Even if you fail initially, keep at it. Otherwise you doom yourself to a life of misery.

Well, it's come and is gone, that one day of lots of prepping and visiting etc and I did that for many years but for the last 15 or so, I have not. And my current "feasts" are small, and I get no where the 18,000 calories many take in their FULL BLOWN indulgences.

I just read your encouraging words and we are the only ones who can change our lives and so many count on others to make them happy and somewhat content....sad for them, so many stuck so have their pity parties.

Had a nice Thanksgiving, wife and I went to my middle sister's house, my parents, and nephew and his wife, and brother in law, small gathering compared to a usually full house.

Daughter went to her boyfriend's family for the day.

Happy belated Turkey Day, everyone!

I worked through Thanksgiving, as usual, but was very surprised when I dashed home for a quick bite before heading out again and was surprised by a full Thanksgiving dinner waiting for me! My wonderful--and I totally realize how fortunate I am-- had prepared a 14lb turkey complete with dressing, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, and homemade pumpkin pie. I was so overwhelmed by the fact that he'd put so much effort into a meal that he wasn't even certain I could make, that I almost cried.
