When the New Year arrives in January, CHCH TV will be making a few changes to its retro lineup, which has remained mostly untouched since the start of October. It has also been a very solid group, with new additions like "Andy Griffith", "My Three Sons", and "Make Room For Daddy" as well as the return of old favorites "Happy Days" and "I Love Lucy" making for a strong lineup overall.
But for now, for what will hopefully be a short time, it's about to get a lot weaker!
On Monday, December 6th, two weeks from today, "Green Acres" will leave the morning lineup in a move that I am anticipating with great sadness. It's one of my favorites and simply one of the funniest series that you will find anywhere at any time. To take over the 11:00 am spot, "The Andy Griffith Show" will move there from its current time of 3 pm, ironically right after "Matlock", which will give you 90 minutes of Andy Griffith to start off the day! It will be followed by "I Love Lucy" at 11:30. This takes me back very fondly to when I first discovered both series many years ago when they were featured on CKVR TV in the early 1990s, except that their times were reversed. Lucy was on at 11 am and Andy followed at 11:30. It might take me a few weeks to get used to the new times but it will be worth it.
What I'm not looking forward to is Andy's replacement in the 3 pm afternoon time slot. CHCH has foolishly decided to bring back "Maude" for the winter which is a great argument for going outdoors!
As for any further changes ahead, "The Odd Couple" is currently in its final season so it will be gone before the year ends. "Matlock", "Hawaii 5-0", "Family Ties", and "Who's The Boss?" each have 2 seasons to go before they leave, which should happen either in late January or early February. "The Danny Thomas Show" is just starting Season 6 and I'm not sure whether it will stop after that or continue on till the end which I'm hoping will happen since I really enjoy watching it. As always, I will keep you informed. Keep it here on this page for further details.
