View Full Version : Must they be nominated every year?
I think they should have a rule...You win an Emmy, you can't be nominated again for playing the same character the following year...
Why must Kelsey Grammer, David Hyde Pierce, Megan Mullaly, Sean Hayes be nominated year after year for an Emmy award, especially when they have won in the past?
I know an actor like David Hyde Pierce has made great strides with Niles over the year, allowing the characer to grow and stretch during a long running series is truly a great achievement for an actor or actress, but c'mon folks, let some other guys have a chance!
Let me just say in my own defense before the angry posts start rolling in, I have nothing against the people I mentioned above, they are some of the most talented folks on TV, but I think the Emmys should share the wealth with the rest of the TV community, instead of heaping accolades on the same people year after year.
bus_stop 07-21-2002, 02:38 PM Thats a good point. After so many nominations I think they get nominated just because of who they are not of their work. A good example is susan luchi (sp) It was sad how many times she was nominated before she won, it was like a cruel joke, until the year she actually won I dont believe they were ever even close to giving it to her she was nominated because of who she was taking a legitamit nomination away from someone who deserved it.
I don't know if yur mad about Susan's continous nominations, but I think that she deserved each and everyone of those nominations. Out of all those nominations she ever got, it took her almost 20 years to finally win one, and I think that she deserved it once again this year, but of course big Susan Flannery got it.
I agree about how many times certain people and shows get nominated each year, only because who the people are on the show. I think that they overlooked "Reba" because it's a WB show, and they only care about NBC sitcoms. I just better face it, the Emmys are for the sucky NBC shows, but the better(and fairer) Peoples Choice Awards are for shows that actually deserve awards.

I personally enjoy NBC sitcoms and I know tons of other people who do too, I find them very funny and I think they deserve their emmys, but thats your opinion and I can't change that..
Pitooey 07-21-2002, 07:40 PM Well TJL.................. I agree with you..............
The same people get nominated over and over and they overlook countless other talent...
As for Susan Lucci... I say she should've won many Emmy's I loved her work in the very beginning of playing the role of Erica Kane. Wow....... She use to blow me away when she would confront her poor mother. She was really something! I agree with the poster that what happened to her was nothing but, a big joke.
DarleneIllyria 07-21-2002, 08:13 PM I agree that the same people shouldn't be nominated every year, but I guess they do that because they are regulars and the people doing the nominating can't risk putting a newcomer into the category and the show folds. *shrugs*
If I was Susan Lucci, I would never go to another awards show again. I know mistakes happen, but it sure as hell didn't help Susan any when she thought they called her name and in reality called another actress up on the stage.
