A big hello to everyone at Ed Brown's Garage, and other "Chico & The Man sites." Just wanted to say Hi, and to let you all know
how much I appreciated all of your birday wishes to me, and cards and flowers, as everyone was so sweet. It means alot to me that you all can be so caring and thoughtful, and would take time out to remember "Mando".
I am doing just fine, both in the work department and in my health. I still get out with some neighborhood kids and shoot hoops, and throw the football around, and run a little bit. For years I used to play fast-pitch softball, as well as slow pitch.
While filming "Chico" at the NBC studios in Burbank, I played ball for the NBC News team, and in fact was in the starting lineup at 2nd base. I was the leadoff hitter, because I had a good on-base average, as well as hitting for a good average. Guess who was the 3rd basement on the team? Give up? O.K. I'll tell you....none other than "Bryant Gumbel"...
I played 8 seasons for the NBC News team, and we were sponsored by "Bob Hope", and I played 2 seasons for "Mac Davis" the country singer. Just a little trivia for all of you. Freddie never wanted to play because he was too busy with "Thee Ladies"...ha ha ha LOL...
Anyway, just wanted to say hi, and this little tid-bit of info came to me..God Bless to you all and I shall drop in from time to time with "Mando's little tid-bits"..as Freddie would say to you all...
