The newly released Welcome to Dunder Mifflin: The Ultimate Oral History of The Office reveals that Obama sent Steve Carell fan mail when he was in the Oval Office, saying "The Office Thursday is family night." Legendary casting director Allison Jones says Wiig auditioned for the Pam role. "I usually bring back anybody who's good, and I'm embarrassed I didn't bring back Kristen," she says. Wiig later got to play Pam on SNL when Rainn Wilson hosted.
