I have heard My Space was once as popular or more than Facebook. Yet its popularity died a long time ago in an era today where social media otherwise thrives in places like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Tik Tok.

View Full Version : What Caused Myspace to Become Obsolete? icecream 11-13-2021, 12:48 PM I have heard My Space was once as popular or more than Facebook. Yet its popularity died a long time ago in an era today where social media otherwise thrives in places like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Tik Tok. GentlemanJim 11-13-2021, 01:19 PM I never really got into Myspace that much, so the following might be ignorant...but I always saw myspace as more of a platform for teenaged guys to put up embellished profiles trying to impress their teeneybop female classmates. Facebook, OTOH, had all the games. All of my co-workers were using it, and it was THE place go to when you wanted to find out who was having what party, and where to be that night. I switched to Facebook when I started working at my new workplace in 2008; the new team I was working on was a generation older than my old team, and had never had MySpace accounts. I feel like Facebook kicked MySpace to the curb. The last time I even talked to someone about MySpace might have been 2009. No-one was using it anymore. Last year, during the peak of the lockdowns, I found my old MySpace account and logged in. It made me very sad over long-lost names I hadn't seen in over a decade. People I had once partied with. People I had been fond of, as co-workers. None of them were even on the platform anymore. Theda Bara 11-14-2021, 01:15 AM There was a HUGE exodus to Facebook back in 2009, people literally abandoned MySpace. I used to spend hours and hours (on MySpace) looking for new bands to check out. Fun Times! Babalu 11-14-2021, 09:00 AM I don't use any of that, but I certainly hope that Facebook will become as obsolete one day. The sooner the better. icecream 11-14-2021, 04:57 PM There was a HUGE exodus to Facebook back in 2009, people literally abandoned MySpace. But I never had a MySpace account. icecream 11-14-2021, 05:01 PM I don't use any of that, but I certainly hope that Facebook will become as obsolete one day. The sooner the better. I enjoy Facebook. Sure, Mark Zuckerberg is a pompous jerk, but it is still a good place for the friends and pages I follow, and great games like Cookie Jam. Axl Rose 11-14-2021, 05:04 PM Gaudy pages and the crappy emo music that autoplayed on them. I loved the customization though. I never got into FB. Theda Bara 11-14-2021, 05:06 PM Funny, 2009 was the year I joined Facebook. But I never had a MySpace account. I crossed over to Facebook about the same time. I had a FB account for nearly a decade then I decided to delete my page. No regrets since I am not interested in social media anymore. As I mentioned in my previous post, I loved MySpace, I thought it was vast superior to Facebook, but that is my IMO. :) AMackII 11-15-2021, 12:33 PM MySpace was very relevant & active during the mid-late 2000s until most users mostly got linked to Instagram, Facebook and Twitter more often on day to day basis Janice Johnson 11-16-2021, 12:00 PM MySpace was very relevant & active during the mid-late 2000s until most users mostly got linked to Instagram, Facebook and Twitter more often on day to day basis I wonder if Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram NEVER were created would Myspace still be wildly active today?:thought: Janice Johnson 11-16-2021, 12:00 PM MySpace was very relevant & active during the mid-late 2000s until most users mostly got linked to Instagram, Facebook and Twitter more often on day to day basis I wonder if Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram NEVER were created would Myspace still be wildly active today?:thought::confused: |
