Gracie was nice but she was just too exhausting and way too dumb. Just one example is when she told that lady that George was a wife beater just so she wouldn't marry a showbiz guy. She makes up that ridiculous story and then she's surprised that the lady spread the "news."

I like the show, and I like the act, and I like Gracie. But I do agree the comedy is somewhat exhausting. The relentless ditziness can wear you down after awhile.

This stereotype of the dumb blonde has been done for decades and is no longer funny.

It's always good to keep in mind that these were originally show once a week, for thirty minutes.

I think it's a little unfair to dismiss Gracie as a dumb blonde. Her zaniness is very smartly written - she's very clever in her craziness. And it takes a certain amount of intelligence to follow her brand of logic.
