Season 1 episode 9 Doug and Carrie are sitting on the couch listening to a song being played on tv and she says it's their song. He asks how is that her song and she says he asked her to dance with him when they were in high school. It contradicts how they met when Doug was a bouncer at a club and Carrie was going through her slut look.
Another minor contradiction is how Richie and Doug were playing ping pong when Spencer was refereeing and Doug was discussing taking a few evening classes with Carrie. Arthur gets a ping pong table years later in an episode where Doug gets wooped by both Arthor and later Carrie.
Another inconsistency I remember is when Carrie and Doug first slept together after Doug said he was employed and wasn't. He was living with Richie at the time and already had a job as a bouncer.

Yeah, they weren't incredibly consistent. What about the missing sister? The neighbors who left and then came back?

Missing sister mysteriously vanished like the sister/daughter on family matters or Richie Cunngingham's brother on Happy Days, they went to the Bermuda Triangle and are now forever lost to us. Or maybe she took out a restraining order on Spence, changed her identity and moved? Or she was abducted by aliens and any memory of her has been wiped away. We have had certain actors come back as different characters in this series. For instance Holly wasn't always a dog walker, she was the woman showing Carrie the baby furniture in the store (remember wabbly diaper change station). The blonde woman she worked with in the second half of the series at her office was the couple that were interested in buying their house. Jerry Stiller's daughter was the coffee shop cashier but also dropped Jerry's real life wife at the community center who would also later be changed to Spencer's mom. O'boyle only had 1 appearance before his permanent replacement. Somehow her law firm's first boss ended up becoming her second boss at her new law firm under a new character name. They must have thought we were stupid not noticing these changes.

Good point about the dog, CM! Someone on Reddit has a theory that Carrie's sister took the dog (https://www.reddit.com/r/kingofqueens/comments/8wsja1/what_happened_to_the_sackskys_dog_doug_and_carrie/). Screenrant has an article that mentions Stanley the dog and other mysteries (https://screenrant.com/king-queens-main-characters-details/).

They knew they could get away with these recastings, ever since Bewitched did it in the 1960s. After all, what's a TV viewer supposed to do? Even if you write in, that doesn't change anything.

Just found another one. Watching the series maybe my 6th time and I just now realized that the episode where Carrie takes Holly out to a martinee bar after she gets broken up with on Valentine's Day while Deacon and Doug are on a delivery run with penguins, wasn't Valentine's day Spence's birthday in the earlier seasons? Spence while in this episode being stuck with Arthur and his date and her sister makes no mention of his birthday.

Carrie's sister was only the first two episodes of the series. I've read the writers and producers decided to drop the character because they just didn't really know what to do with her and so they made Carrie an only child.

I've wondered if they were originally thinking of doing a long-term romance of Spence gradually winning her over. Frasier and Raymond had both done that storyline with secondary characters recently.
