View Full Version : Why did Hershey's ruin its Kisses holiday commercial?
Hawkee 10-30-2021, 05:50 AM Last year I saw that Hershey's updated it's classic holiday commercial and ruined it and I hope they don't air it this year. The commercial begins with the Hershey Kisses doing We Wish You A Merry Christmas then an arm removes one of the Kisses and then it cuts to a scene with a mother and daughter baking cookies. I don't know why Hershey's ruined such a great commercial classic that they should be ashamed at what they did. Bring back the original Hershey's Kisses holiday commercial because it was so cool and traditional for Hershey's

icecream 10-30-2021, 01:17 PM Yes. At one point Hershey's said they would never change that commercial, it was a classic.
stevea 10-30-2021, 09:58 PM Last year, IIRC, they got some flak for changing it--so they brought back the original, but kept the spoiled new one in the mix.
I'd hope they learned the lesson, but I wouldn't bet on it. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
Hawkee 11-03-2021, 02:38 AM I think Hershey's did a wrong thing by ruining a classic holiday commercial that has aired since 1989 and they should make a new Hershey's Kisses holiday commercial this year. Because besides the regular commercials holiday commercials are special to see every year and Hershey's really ruined this commercial

DadTheKing 11-03-2021, 04:35 PM Hi, Bestie! I agree, Hershey should publicly apologize for that commercial. If they want a new commercial, make an original one, don't ruin a classic.

They didn't learn anything -- both the ruined one and the original are back.
I'll never eat another HK again.
stevea 11-25-2022, 01:35 PM Here we are, a year later. They still haven't learned a thing.
GentlemanJim 11-26-2022, 06:51 PM I just assumed it was an "inclusiveness" gesture?

Yeah I get that, but it's just candies as bells. Simple, no exclusion of any kind.
I can't imagine anyone could have found a reason to complain about the original.
It's like they said, "It's a great Christmas commercial. Let's fix it."

Just "me", but I don't think it was a matter of any "complaint" so much as "what can we do to expand our customer base?"
I was fine with the original version too. But somewhere there is a room full of stockholders who believe their good fortunes depend upon the hard work of others. And for them ANYTHING that might sell just two more bags full, is a great idea.
stevea 11-27-2022, 09:26 AM True.
Looking at it as glass-half-full, they DID bring the original back, and kept them both.
stevea 11-20-2023, 10:53 PM Well, another year gone by. So far, I've seen it twice tonight, both in original form. There is hope!

They still haven't learned.

Wow, are you being completely ridiculous over a stupid TV commercial! LOL! Oh well that's just more Hershey's Kisses for me to eat. ;)
