McKenzie Phillips has been known for her role in American Graffiti and More American Graffiti, and certain other movies, but unless my memory serves me wrong, she acted in a made-for-TV movie sometime slightly past the mid 1970s to maybe the early 1980s.
I was very young then but from what I can best get out of my memory McKenzie played the part of a young woman who was traveling with another woman of the same age like hippie girls or even "groupies" following rock or country-western bands in which there are male performers to meet up with.
I most vividly recall in this movie that there was a scene ( hard to describe so I will do my best) in which the two women were trying to get someone in a car or truck to stop for them because the two women were walking across some dusty country road and they needed to hitch to the next town ( or something like that) and the two managed to get a guy to stop in his pickup truck but one of the women somehow accidentally made the guy want to get in his truck and drive off which he did and then the other woman shouted at the one who scared the guy off and kicked her in the shins for her stupidity. I think the character McKenzie Phillip's played is the one who kicked the other in the shins.
I may be completely wrong that it was McKenzie Phillips in this role but again, it was during the time that One Day At A Time was popular and had been on the air a while so it had to have been in the later 1970s to early 1980s and I recall that I read a bit that McKenzie Phillips wanted to take on other roles than that of "Julie." if anyone recall this TV Movie 's name please post.
I looked online for movies that McKenzie Phillips played in and do not see anything with a plot like this. If she did play in this made-for-TV movie, it must have really been forgotten and not even in any list of movies she acted in.
