View Full Version : Do you think the Clampetts attended church? Alan Brady's Hair 10-21-2021, 12:01 PM I don't recall them being in church. At some point, Jed says that Granny's a Baptist, but that he's mostly a "Golden Ruler," which implies he's not a member of a specific sect. merlinjones 11-04-2021, 10:32 AM Didn't Jed call his suit with bowler hat his "Sunday-go-to-meetin' clothes"? There's your answer. Chocolate Moose 11-04-2021, 02:53 PM that's just a Southern expression. merlinjones 11-04-2021, 06:42 PM There's also the episode where Jed's old family Bible shows the lineage of the Clampetts going back to Plymouth (guest starring Rosemary DeCamp). And Granny prays to strike a bargain/change her ways in a few episodes. I'm thinking a church could have provided a decent community for the Clampetts, seeing as how they didn't have many friends if B.hills. Chocolate Moose 11-05-2021, 09:48 AM Don't forget they lived way out in the hills. did Little House on the Prairie attend church? No. they probably only got to town - where a chruch was - 2 or 3 times a year. In the early B&W episodes, they were described as living out in the middle of nowhere, 8 miles from their nearest neighbor, no phone, nor contact with the outside world; BUT in the later color episodes, they talked about having a town square, general store, having nearby neighbors they would spend time with, and it was actually described as quite a thriving little town, and it was said they had party-line telephones, which totally contradicts when they first got to B.Hills and had no clue what a phone even was. But I thought on Little House on the Prarie they did go to church |
