What tapes record well from Digital Cable? I know they make certain tapes for digital sources, but do they really make a diffrence?

Thanks in advance.

I have digital cable, and I just use any kind of tape. I didn't know there was a special type to buy. You should be careful when taping with digital though. I taped the entire Facts of Life reunion movie with NO SOUND, because the sound was turned down on the cable box. BooHoo...poor me. I am always careful to check that now!

I just use any kind of tape also, but if your tv and vcr have SVIDEO, its recommended to use it. I read somewhere that it stores information of the tape a bit differently and increases their longevity. i dont know if its true, but it sounds good to me.

i did find this interesting though. i recently started putting all my stuff on vcd. some shows i have recorded on maxell hi-fi professional grade tapes. when i put those shows on cd, i noticed the picture quality was so excellent, i did not need to clean any noise from the file.
i thought that was really right on. now i reuse my maxell pros for recording off tv just to put on cd, because it saves me so much time.

do you know if the svideo is enabled?
i have a go deck and plugging it in isnt enough, you actually have to go into the vcr menu and enable it. as for the tv, i dont know. i really dont use it much because not all my tvs , vcrs have the feature. thats really cruddy that yours isnt working right.
