Ted Lasso's sports journalist portrayal is looking good after it was slammed for being inaccurate (https://www.cjr.org/the_media_today/ted_lasso_gruden_nfl_schefter.php)

The Oct. 1 episode showing The Independent journalist Trent Crimm outing a source to Coach Lasso was widely denounced by real sports journalists (https://www.primetimer.com/item/Ted-Lassos-sports-reporter-portrayal-is-causing-an-uproar-among-real-sports-journalists-xXS0Em), who said that wouldn't happen in the real world. But in wake of ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter's journalistic lapse in judgment (https://defector.com/adam-schefter-is-pathetic-and-espn-is-gutless/) this week, Crimm is being reevaluated. Schefter, a graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, was a veteran newspaper sports reporter before he joined the NFL Network in 2004 and then ESPN in 2009. A some have pointed out, Schefter got a leg up (https://twitter.com/ChadwikoTWW/status/1448153319638126592) as a Denver Post reporter by becoming chummy with then-Denver Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan. They even wrote a book together (https://www.amazon.com/Think-Like-Champion-Building-1999-08-18/dp/B019L4L5U4). So Crimm's behavior on Ted Lasso does seem plausible. "Two weeks on from the penultimate episode of Ted Lasso, I feel naive to have seen the discussion around Trent Crimm’s source-burning as outlandishly fictional; indeed, numerous observers explicitly compared Crimm to Schefter this week, coming down, if anything, on Crimm’s side," Jon Allsop writes in the Columbia Journalism Review
