This would be a more enjoyable talent show than the very mixed bag America's Got Talent which focuses too much on Vegas and has judges like Howie who push several unfunny comedians through. So many mediocre acts there achieve great popularity like croaky voice Grace Vanderwahl from the first season I started watching. So what if she wrote her own songs, Laura Bretan was immensely a more talented singer with her strong operatic voice (even stronger today). No way should so-so Grace have been the favorite throughout, Sal the Voice that year was also a much better singer. Strong vocal groups like Voices of Service finished lower than they should have, and Paul Potts should have been higher on his season of Champions. Saturday night I enjoyed a Marie Osmond concert on BYU TV. I had heard of Donny and Marie's variety show but that was before my time and I hadn't really heard her sing. One of Marie's guests was Daniel Emmett, who is another very talented operatic/Broadway style singer that AGT voters didn't appreciate enough. Super boring Shin Lim won two versions, and other crap acts like Broken Roots finished in 2nd place last year. Then there is the dance groups with super annoying music like VUnbeatables who won one season and had a strong finish the other. Victory Brinker this year was easily better than all of the unimpressive top 5. Simon fawned all over Aidan Quinn but Sofie Dossi was a more interesting aerialist, and she had the added dimension of shooting arrows as well. Broadway style talent shouldn't all be hogged by New York. Those of us who don't get to travel there would enjoy more of that style and a lot less of the hip hop and rap garbage that are too common today.
