I don't particularly agree that a name change was even necessary. But I'm 100% convinced that they could have picked a better name.

They could have been clever and given a name related to the Western Reserve (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connecticut_Western_Reserve) and taught a valuable history lesson while at the same time celebrating local heritage.

I STILL like The Cleveland Spiders...I won't doubt they'll be The Cleveland Indians...if Scrooge McDolan sells the team!

Ernest Angely was around 99 years old. Before he died he was still preaching sermons in 2021.

Cleveland Guardian sounds like the name of a newspaper and it's a terrible name for a baseball team. They should have stayed with the name Indians and Chief Wahoo.

And not many Native Americans are offended by Cleveland Indians or...since tomorrow is Columbus Day...Christopher Columbus!

Only reason why Christopher Columbus got credit is necause his trip to the Caribbean was recorded! Many tried to land in North and South America...but the Native Americans would either kill or capture the Europeans.

But Dolan is such a pathetic wuss and caved. Guardians is such a stupid name. It sounds like an incontinence product. They could have changed the name to Chiefs. I know there is a football team with that name, but so what. It is generic enough that nobody could have any objection.

(I think) calling The Washington Football Team the Washington Braves would be okay since that was their first name.
