Adam Goldberg in real life, was born in 1976, which would've made him 13 years old in 1989. This naturally meant that he in actuality, spent his "formative" and teenage years in the '90s, when Schooled is said to have taken place. Granted, The Goldbergs does kind of get a way without by deliberately being ambiguous and muddled with the '80s timeline and setting. But still, Adam Goldberg is really by design, a "'90s kid", since that's when you can argue, he truly came of age.
