The following are the "controversial" episodes.

Season 1:

Dope (June 11th, 1980)
Blair and Sue Ann decide to join an exclusive group of girls whose favorite pastime is smoking marijuana.
Guest stars: Hilary Horan as Tumpy and Helen Hunt as Emily Notes: This episode was postponed from April 25th, 1980. Mrs. Garrett wants to buy the girls a new stereo. Eastland has their first drug bust and expulsion in 54 years. Sue Ann's mother is 41 years old. Sue's Ann's dog's name is Tiger. The New Yorker poster stays on the set through season 7. That stereo stays on the set thoughout the whole series. The bookcase by the door has been moved from the previous episodes.


Season 2:

Breaking Point (January 28th, 1981)
Blair thinks being elected student council president is the most important thing in the world until a real tragedy strikes, forcing everyone to reassess their priorities.
Guest star: Denise Halma as Cynthia


Season 3:

Fear Strikes Back (November 4th, 1981)
Natalie is assaulted on her way home from a campus party. Guest stars: Louis Welch as Instructor, Paige Conner as Lucy

Front Page (November 25th, 1981)
Jo writes a story to get revenge on her overly critical journalism teacher.
Guest stars: Julie Anne Haddock as Cindy, Julie Piekarski as Sue Ann, Steven Anderson as Professor Gideon, Loren Lester as Roy Notes: Mr. Gideon writes FACT on the chalkboard which stands for Fast Accurate Concise True. Robert Michael Gideon is 33 years old. The headline for the newspaper is 'Teacher Busted in Cocaine Raid'.


Season 4:

The Source (October 6th, 1982)
Natalie is under pressure to reveal her source for a controversial article on a schoolmate's secret abortion she has written for the school paper.
Guest stars: Roger Perry as Mr. Parker, Lisa Lucas as Annie, Cheryl Epps as Terry, Dawn Schroder as Jenny
Note: Tootie's imaginary friend was named Louise and that is the fictional name Natalie uses for her article. The name of the school newspaper is The Eastlander.


Season 5:

I'm Dancing as Fast I Can (November 9th, 1983)
Blair and Jo plan a birthday surprise for Mrs. Garrett. Their night out at a male exotic dance club uncovers a shocking surprise for Blair.
Guest stars: Woody Brown as Cliff, Larry Poindexter as Ken, The Men of Chippendales: Read Scott as The Cowboy, Roger Menache as Fireman Freddie, Hodari Sababu as Officer Bob; Dan Peterson as The Maitre d', and Philip Charles MacKenzie as the M.C.
Notes: This is Woody Brown's first of many appearances as Blair's boyfriend Cliff. Tootie is 15 years old.

With a Little Help from My Friends (January 30th, 1985)
Blair's plans for a perfect day with boyfriend Nick keep getting delayed because he has to wait for a friend, who Jo fears is the campus drug dealer.

The girls and Beverly Ann are worried when Jo offers to marry an illegal alien in order to keep him from being deported.

Guest stars: Nick Corri as Enrico (Enrico Quinterez), Robert Phalen as Arnold Jensen, Lewis Dauber as Floyd Barton.


Season 9:

The First Time (February 6th, 1988)
Natalie discovers the joys and responsibilities of sexual maturity. On their first anniversary as a couple, Natalie and Snake decide to become intimate.
Co-star: Sherrie Krenn as Pippa
Guest star: Robert Romanus as Snake
Notes: Lisa Whelchel does not appear in this episode (the only one she was not in). The original story was supposed to revolve around the Blair character but she wanted nothing to do with it because of her strong beliefs against it. When this episode originally aired on NBC, they had a 2 second disclaimer at the beginning of the episode saying it wasn't intended for all audiences. This episode apparently was the highest rated single episode during the original run of the series.

On the Edge (March 12th, 1988)
Jo witnesses firsthand the incredible stress social workers bear when she attempts to talk a colleague out of committing suicide.
Co-stars: Mackenzie Astin, Sherrie Krenn
Guest stars: Alexandra Borrie as Sandy, Suzanne Krull as Melissa, Jane Dulo as Mrs. Beets, John Harnagel as the Policeman, Sonya Winton as Annie, Sidney Chankin as Mr. White.

Thanks for the great list! Very handy! So far, Hallmark is airing "controversial" episodes, but skipping several that aren't, which makes no sense.

No, because it's a 'holiday'-type show that caters to a specific time of the year. It's the same thing with the episode "Three's Christmas" of TC and the Christmas episodes of other series, though FOL was one of the few times a Halloween episode was skipped.

I think it was an episodes that should have just been aired when it was it's turn. Not on some special occasion

Question, wouldn't "Growing Pains" and
"Let's Party" be considered controversial? I mean considering those episodes revolve around alcohol! Plus, I realize that N@N aired those two eps, but some people would consider them controversial.

You forgot one. "Ready or Not" from season eight. Tootie considers having sex with her new boyfriend Rudy. They don't though.
