View Full Version : Mrs. Garrett's new husband in season 8: Ted or Bruce?
FOL-FAN-ITA 09-29-2021, 09:22 AM Do you think Ted, the man Mrs. Garrett hangs out with in season 6, could have been her new husband in season 8? I would have liked it, her relationship with him was established at that point. Bruce appears out of nowhere and we know very little about him.
What do you think?
RetroGuy2000 09-29-2021, 10:41 AM The continuity of Ted was so much better. Her whirlwind marriage to Bruce came out of nowhere.
80s Dude 09-29-2021, 08:38 PM I liked Chester Tate, I mean Bruce Gains.
valentina warner 09-30-2021, 07:28 PM TED was far too old for MRS G, and very ugly! (BRUCE on the other hand was closer to her age, and attractive too)
I chose BRUCE GAINES!

Thanks for voting, guys. Everyone's opinion is welcomed. I like Bruce but I think choosing Ted would have meant a better continuity
RetroGuy2000 10-01-2021, 12:12 PM Yeah, nothing wrong with Bruce, but Ted is better continuity: he already had a connection to Edna, instead of a stranger marrying Edna.
'80sSitcoms 10-01-2021, 12:44 PM You want continuity? Go back to season 3 for Ernest "Ernie" Melbourne!

Then her dating history would be Ernie, Ted, then back to Ernie. I'm not sure that would be a better continuity.

Well Edna and Ernie see each other whenever he's in town (and have been for over 15 years), so he's always "around" in her dating history, hence an easy fit.

Don't forget Leon, guys :lol: Leon the human, not the frog :lol::lol:

Leon the human was far too young for Mrs. Garrett.
Leon the frog, on the other hand, was too damp.

I really wonder why they didn't keep Ernie around for sporadic appearances. Maybe the actor was no longer available.

Story-wise they really did have an "open invitation" to utilize for him to come back.

We all know Mr. Drummond and Mrs. Garrett could have been a great couple :lol:
valentina warner 10-01-2021, 06:48 PM You guys forgot the most obvious one: what about MR PARKER??? (he and MRS G had the greatest chemistry ha ha!)
PS: i like ERNIE too (and he called 'our feisty red head' EDDIE lol!)
RetroGuy2000 10-02-2021, 01:03 AM Mr. Drummond? Mr. Parker? Mrs. Garrett worked for them. Nooooooo!!!!!!!!
FOL-FAN-ITA 10-02-2021, 04:44 AM Mr. Drummond? Mr. Parker? Mrs. Garrett worked for them. Nooooooo!!!!!!!!
You're right :lol::lol: But, out of the employers Mrs. Garrett has had, Mr. Drummond was the most friendly

He certainly was kinder than Mr. Parker. BUT he was the type of person who took no nonsense from "the help". I just wouldn't want Mrs. Garrett involved with him.

MR DRUMMOND wasn't MRS G's style at all: he seemed very old fashioned and boring for her lol!
MR PARKER on the other hand clashed very well with 'our feisty red head' (he even called her feisty once lol!)
MR BRADLY was another one who had a great dynamic with MRS G: he could have been her toyboy, considering their age difference ha ha!

(and I've always found it interesting it's "toy boy" in the United Kingdom but "boy toy" in the United States!)

Really??? (And i always thought you said 'Toy boy' in any English speaking country!) but in that case: why was the American singer SINITTA singing that famous song from the 1980 s called 'Toy boy' and not ('Boy toy' lol!)
:jig::jig::jig::jig::jig::jig::jig::jig::jig::jig::jig::jig::jig::jig:
80s Dude 10-04-2021, 08:33 PM Maybe George could be Mrs. G's boy toy.
FOL-FAN-ITA 10-05-2021, 09:58 AM Or that male stripper in season 5 :lol::lol:
RetroGuy2000 10-05-2021, 10:42 AM That was Blair's boyfriend!

Not Cliff, the other one :lol:

I have never heard of this alleged singer.
I just Googled her, and she's British! That's why she sang "Toy Boy"! ;) :p

Sinitta Malone (born 19 October 1963), known mononymously as Sinitta, is an American-born British singer

Who doesn't know the song TOY BOY? (it was world known during the late 1980 s lol!)

Wikipedia indicates it never entered the Hot 100 in the US (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toy_Boy). It only entered the club chart, at #19. I just watched the YouTube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdQ6Y9dT62k), but I had never heard it before. The chorus sounds a lot like Madonna's "Lucky Star", with "starlight, starbright" replaced with "toy boy, toy toyboy". Very '80s!

Wow! That's really amazing: TOY BOY was at the top number 1 all over Europe and the UK lol! (i guess it's like BACK STREET BOYS, NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK and DAVID HASSELHOFF who had more success in Europe and the UK than the did in the USA)....

Definitely like David Hasselhoff's music career, but we've heard of the BSB and NKOTB. Probably more like Everytime it Rains (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdB2qw0G-SQ), which hit #22 in the UK, but did not enter the Hot 100 in the US.

DAVID HASSELHOFF had the most success in Germany: they really loved him there lol!

What?? Valentina, are you sure? You are correct about David Hasselhoff, but BSB and NKOTB were HUUUUUUUUGE here in the US of A. I didn't even know UK audiences knew of them!
