R. Kelly, the chart-topping R&B singer who for years has been trailed by allegations that he capitalized on his fame to sexually, mentally, and physically abuse women and teenage girls, was found guilty of racketeering and eight violations of an anti-sex-trafficking law in federal court in Brooklyn on Monday.
The singer, born Robert Sylvester Kelly, faces the possibility of life in prison. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for May 4th.

TV helped take down R. Kelly after the music industry coddled him (https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/tv/story/2021-09-28/r-kelly-racketeering-sex-trafficking-guilty-verdict-lifetime-gayle-king)
"R. Kelly often seemed invincible" before a federal jury convicted (https://www.cnn.com/2021/09/27/us/r-kelly-verdict/index.html) the R&B star Monday of racketeering and sex trafficking after decades of allegations he sexually abused underage girls, says Lorraine Ali. "Much like the record business that profited off the superstar’s talent, Kelly, 54, appeared up until this week to be immune to the reckoning that toppled Hollywood titans like Bill Cosby and Harvey Weinstein," says Ali. "Now he’s the highest-profile musician unseated by the #MeToo movement and one of only a few artists held accountable in an industry rife with abusers and enablers. From famous performers to high-profile power brokers, the music business is still sheltering its abusers like it’s 1999. Despite Kelly’s marriage to a 15-year-old when he was 27, the videotape circulated of him urinating on a 14-year-old girl during a sex act, and year after year of underage survivors alleging rape, imprisonment and worse against the artist, he continued to sell millions of albums, fill arenas, garner Grammy nominations and work with contemporaries like Lady Gaga, Chance the Rapper and Celine Dion. So it makes sense that television, not the music biz, finally took Kelly down. The 2019 Lifetime docuseries Surviving R. Kelly (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsv_rqa6_Og) and its follow-up, 2020’s Surviving R. Kelly Part II: The Reckoning marked the end to years of Kelly operating with impunity. Together they made a case against the artist largely off the power of firsthand accounts from his accusers, many of whom hadn’t told their stories publicly before appearing on the production. The fallout from the documentary was swift. RCA Records finally dropped Kelly, and within weeks a grand jury in Cook County, Ill., indicted him on 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Nine of those counts identified the victims as 13 to 16 years old. Gayle King’s explosive interview (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pafJHx-o21k) with Kelly was the next blow." Ali adds: "The music industry offered the perfect playground in which to operate. Kelly was insulated by the adoration of zealous fans, critical accolades and public apathy. Debauchery is part and parcel of pop stardom, right?" One of the brave women who spoke out in Surviving R. Kelly was Jerhonda Pace (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCsd7ty6leA), who went on to testify at Kelly's trial. “Today my voice was heard,” she wrote on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/p/CUVt83Lvt1R/) following the verdict. “For years, I was trolled for speaking out about the abuse that I suffered at the hands of that predator. People called me a liar and said I had no proof. Some even said I was speaking out for money. Speaking out about abuse is not easy, especially when your abuser is high-profile.” Ali adds: "Television doesn’t make speaking out any easier, of course. But in Kelly’s case, as Monday’s conviction shows, it was instrumental in making voices like Pace’s come through loud and clear." ALSO: Surviving R. Kelly executive producer Dream Hampton calls the guilty verdict a "step in the right direction" that will help survivors "get their lives back." I’m sure he’ll make a lot of close “male friends” during his time in jail as no sane woman is stupid enough to give him a “lap dance” anymore after all the Jack sh*t stuff he’s done.

I think his earlier stuph is better before he ruined his career........
The first album he ever made was with a group (Public announcement) and It isnt that good...... I only like 1 song on that album (Slow dance)
His first 2 solo albums are insanely good!
12 PLAY in 1993 and R. KELLY in 1995 (Thats the last good album he put out)
Its a double record and every song on it is goregous!!!!

JamesG 06-30-2022, 12:41 AM R. Kelly Sentenced to 30 Years in Prison for Sex Trafficking
by Christian Holub
June 29, 2022
After being convicted of racketeering and sex trafficking last fall, singer R. Kelly has been handed his criminal sentence. The R&B artist was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Wednesday.
The singer faced a minimum sentence of 10 years, and maximum of life in prison. In their sentencing memo, prosecutors requested at least 25 years due to "the seriousness of the offenses, the need for specific deterrence and the need to protect the public from further crimes." In the end, the 55-year-old got more than that recommendation, with a 30-year prison sentence.
The sentencing hearing began with statements from several survivors.
"You made me do things that broke my spirit. I literally wished I would die because of how low you made me feel," said one unnamed survivor, directly to Kelly. "Do you remember that?"
Kelly did not respond to these statements or address the court.
Kelly was also indicted by federal authorities in July 2019 on charges of racketeering and conspiracy — meaning that in addition to sexual assault, he also broke the law by creating a structure of enablers and henchmen to find girls for him to abuse, transport them across state lines, and more.
Kelly is due to go on trial in August for those charges.

JamesG 02-24-2023, 04:06 PM R. Kelly Gets 20 Years for Child Sex Crimes, but 19 to be Served Concurrently with N.Y. Sentence
by Emlyn Travis
February 23, 2023
R. Kelly was sentenced to 20 years in prison for child sex crimes Thursday in Chicago federal court, but the disgraced R&B star will serve all but one of those years at the same time as his previous 30-year sentence for sex trafficking and racketeering.
According to the Associated Press, U.S. District Judge Harry Leinenweber ordered Robert Kelly to serve an additional year beyond his prior sentence, which was handed down last summer in New York federal court.
The 56-year-old singer, who was subsequently convicted of producing child pornography and child enticement in September, will now serve a maximum 31 years in jail and will be eligible for release in his 80s.
Prosecutors had asked Leinenweber to sentence Kelly to 25 years, on top of his earlier prison term — effectively a life sentence.
