Can we please stop bringing old posts back to the top? I get SOOOO confused with it, and lately it's getting a little out of hand with the old posts popping back up! i just read a post about bus stop and men for all seasons being on "this run" and it was talking about when facts of life was on nick at nite and somebody bumped it up to say they still had hope... we know you have hope that they'll be on hallmark because we ALL do! i just think that's a little over doing it to bring that WHOLE topic up just to say that, you could have started it in another post or put it in one of hte millions of other posts about hallmark... so PLEASE, keep the bringing back posts to a MINIMUM!!!

Thank You!!!

Ok, I guess I'm the guilty party for that post. -ahem- I only do it to save space on the board to make it less clutered. And I brought that one to see what N@N has done to FOL in the past and was thinking that maybe Hallmark is just doing what N@N did. I like bringing back old topics to redisscuss them for people who might have not had a chance to reply to them.

LOL, I agree, for me sometimes it is confusing to what posts are yesterdays news, or new posts. I mean, when I read them for the first time, I one saw a post about upcoming episode of Facts of Life coming on Nick-at-Nite and surprisingly I react to them and I think FOL is coming back to Nick-at-Nite?! So yes, please do not post an old topic only if is necessary.

I agree 100%! Thanks for bringing this up, Sarah Lynn!

Well, I respectfully disagree. I think the old posts being "resurrected" is funny. Granted, I don't try to find posts that say "FOL returns to N@N" or something like that, but why should we have 40 posts floating around about hair styles or "who is your favorite character." The more posts there are, the harder it is to find what you are looking for.

I don't pull up old posts too often. When I do, it's usually from a year prior, and is something humorous or just a "I never thought about that" type thing. I've never heard any complaints about the old posts until now.

I would like to know what defines an "old" post also. If there is something about an episode from over a year ago, that has no relation to N@N, USA, or whatever, why not bring it back.

This board is the most populated and visited board of any on this site. It's darn near impossible to go through everything on here. So, if it is possible to consolidate a bit and bring some old ideas or laughter back, why not?

I think old posts should be brought back only when they're applicable to whatever's going on now with the show or the actors. Otherwise it gets confusing.

I agree with Tad Warner and Jayman26. I like the old topics. On the occasion it can be confusing if the posts don't conincide with the current topics though.

I'm gonna bring up old topics.

I joined this community in February or so, and I like to dig through the archives. And instead of makin' MORE new threads that have been brought up time and again, I have the respect to post appropriately in threads that were already created for what I wanted to say, or cover something that interests me.

But I do not purposefully bring up old things have to do with N@N or whatever---I try to only do appropriate things. :)

I agree with Jayman in the sense that some topics can be interesting and humorous. Others, on the other hand, are incredibly confusing.

I was just wondering why there seemed to be quite a few old topics brought back. I don't care, it doesn't bother me. I kinda like reading some of the "old" posts. I was just wondering if they were being brought back because people were running out of things to say or something. :p

It's always good to go back and scour through the archives for a good discussion. You should see some of the wicked topics we discussed back when FOL was in it's first run on Nick. Ahhh...the good ole' days... ;)

Yep, I love going through those things and remembering the good ole days... when I HAD the show to watch.

I bumped this post back up for a reason. Some old posts are interesting to bring back up, but others confuse board members or have no reason to be bumped up. I'm saying this because recently, we had a Nick-at-Nite post come up again, and some people thought that the show was going to air on Nick again. This is just my opinion, but I think it's OK to bring up some old posts, just as long as they don't lead people to false assumptions. Thanks for reading my ramblings.

I personally don't mind people bringing back old posts, 'cause it's interesting to see what others thought of something back 'then' as opposed to now. However, I have to agree with the TV scheduling posts. They can really get people hyped-up for a second, lol. Guess we just have to be alert of the dates. ;)

I admit to being guilty of this, especially since I'm replying to this 2002 thread in 2019! However, I have gone through almost every page and it's crazy to see the same topics over and over again. There should be a way to merge these so that the forum doesn't have 175 pages of the same thing. Just a suggestion. That's why I always go back and see if the topic has been created before I create a new one.

But don't you think it's better creating a new topic on the discussion with people who are here rather than replying to people who haven't posted on this board or site in over a decade?

I'll admit one reason I hate seeing these old threads come up is because it reminds me of the ones who used to post here years ago. Sitcoms Online was like IMDb. These message boards were hopping. Chit Chat had so many topics flowing with either drama or fun conversations and of the sitcom message boards, this one was the hottest to be on. It's just sad seeing how all the ones who brought so much life into the board have gone away over the years. I know the regular ones here now do their best to keep it thriving but it's still not the same. Plus it's sad being reminded how eventually you lose contact with ones you used to chat with almost every day on here. In less than two years it'll be my 20th anniversary on here. There was a huge group of people I used to chat with on here back when I first started and now I have no clue whatever happened with them because they left. So yeah that's the real reason I hate when newbies bump up old stuff.

I see both sides: bumping threads to see names that will never reappear feels very sad. And yet, there are some cool threads from olden times which have some interesting conversations.

Well I've been here a while but I honestly don't like seeing so many repetitive threads. I wish there was a way they could be strung together or something b/c it was kind of unnerving going through 177 pages of posts where over 50% of them were repetitive but that's just me. And when I do bump up old threads, I never go through and read all the previous replies. I just post my own reply and go from there.

Is it really? Sorry, I'm just thinking of when we fans who were eager to just discuss the series as a whole were a tiny minority trying to stay afloat amidst the tsunami of the Nancy McKeon Brigade. ;)

Eh, I did what I could from May 2018 - May 2019. I had a lot of fun "hanging out" here again for a whole year.

I never participated in the Nancy fandom here because she's not the reason I'm a fan of this show. There were more than just Nancy threads during that time. That's all you or others on here choose to remember, but there were more discussions on this show than just Nancy by many fans. I remember a group of us doing role playing games and discussing topics from episodes of all seasons and not just season one. It was good times that went by too soon.

Oh it's not all I choose to remember, it's just that is was so overwhelming (though I was being a little joking/exaggerating in my post). I'm recalling specifically circa 2001. I do remember other "good times" here, but the NMB was an undeniable presence back then (and I didn't make the board friendships you did back then, I just largely hung out and posted my thoughts/input here and there). When Retro and I were posting a lot in the 2014 era, it seemed the Nancy fan base had been gone from the boards for quite a while.

Yep. I'm happy to discuss the Eastland Years with other fans. I haven't watched most of those later episodes in many years. They feel like a weird spin-off.
