Which character changed the least between seasons 1 and 8? (I'm not including Season 9 since we didn't see many original characters during that season.)

View Full Version : Which character changed the least over eight years? RetroGuy2000 09-21-2021, 11:32 AM Which character changed the least between seasons 1 and 8? (I'm not including Season 9 since we didn't see many original characters during that season.) FOL-FAN-ITA 09-21-2021, 12:31 PM I would say Natalie. While the other three girls and Mrs. Garrett changed a bit as time went on, Natalie stayed true to her roots. If we consider the Lost Girls, I'd pick Nancy. She was still Roger-obsessed in season 8, as she was in the earlier years. '80sSitcoms 09-21-2021, 12:44 PM I thought you'd be asking which character changed the least between seasons 1 and 9, over the course of the entire series (hence the characters continuing on into season 9, not new characters coming along in season 9). RetroGuy2000 09-21-2021, 01:57 PM I would say Natalie. She was still Roger-obsessed in season 8, as she was in the earlier years. I think you are right on both counts. Nancy is crazy for Roger in Season 1 (at least the later part of season 1), and she's still crazy for him in Season 8. Natalie is funny in Season 1, and is still funny in Season 8. She still hasn't lost her sense of humor, or that wry smile. By cutting off the final season, we can measure eight characters instead of four. '80sSitcoms 09-21-2021, 03:56 PM I wanted to make the measurement even. Meaning since the Lost Girls appeared in TLC, that puts all 8 characters in 8 seasons (in a way) to pick one. valentina warner 09-21-2021, 07:49 PM I thought you meant physically/the way they looked lol! (not the personality). 80s Dude 09-21-2021, 08:30 PM Natalie. Blair went from Experimental Blair to Prudish Blair to Airhead Blair. Tootie went from Adorable Tootie to Whiny Tootie. Jo went from mechanical/motorcycle tomboy to becoming more feminine. Natalie stayed Natalie. RetroGuy2000 09-21-2021, 11:28 PM Ahh, I'm on the same page now. Meaning since the Lost Girls appeared in TLC, that puts all 8 characters in 8 seasons (in a way) to pick one. Yeah. By just looking at eight seasons, everyone's pretty much along the same stretch of time. RetroGuy2000 09-21-2021, 11:38 PM Natalie. Blair went from Experimental Blair to Prudish Blair to Airhead Blair. Tootie went from Adorable Tootie to Whiny Tootie. Jo went from mechanical/motorcycle tomboy to becoming more feminine. Natalie stayed Natalie. Natalie definitely stayed basically the same; I do think she still grew a lot, becoming a writer and acquiring some "grit". But she didn't become basically the opposite of who she had been (Experimental but Intelligent Blair to Conservative Airhead Blair, or Diablo Jo to Permed and Primped Jo). Cindy also had a major transformation, going from Tomboy Cindy to Cover Girl Cindy. Sue Ann also changed, to some extent, aiming for a high-powered executive position in the corporate world... a big change from her Kansas City, Kansas, roots. Nancy remained remarkably unchanged, although she seemed to use the phone far less. Mrs. Garrett felt much like her old self in Season 8. Dignified yet caring. Strong but also nurturing. The strange behavior of Season 7 is gone. And yet, she, too, has grown and changed, going from a harried maid to a calm, mature, married woman. I love the end of her story. RetroGuy2000 09-21-2021, 11:40 PM I thought you meant physically/the way they looked lol! (not the personality). I guess you could focus on the characters' looks... but I think their personalities are a lot more fun to explore. FOL-FAN-ITA 09-22-2021, 05:43 AM Natalie. But she's still Adorable Tootie in season 2 Natalie definitely stayed basically the same; I do think she still grew a lot, becoming a writer and acquiring some "grit". Wow Retro, you really know how to put words into paper lol! I love how you describe the changes of every character, and especially MRS G: she really returns back to her old self briefly in season 8, and that episode 'Out of Peeskills' remains my very favourite of that season indeed! As for BLAIR's changes: i will always regret how she goes from experimental/rebellious (Pilot + season 1) to conservative/airhead! The writers in my opinion did a lot of damage lol! BLAIR had so much potential as a character during the earlier seasons, and she was the star of season 1! Not to mention her famous entrance as the bad/rude girl from the Pilot, whose interaction with MRS G made quite an impact! (on me anyway).... JO and TOOTIE weren't as damaged as BLAIR in my opinion, and NATALIE pretty much stayed the same, but adopting a more mature attitude of course. :yourock::yourock::yourock::yourock::yourock::yourock::yourock::yourock: RetroGuy2000 09-22-2021, 06:21 PM Wow Retro, you really know how to put words into paper lol! I can see why it would be. It feels like a wonderful return to Classic Edna. I could live without the weird Winnebago scene, but it's otherwise just wonderful. My favorite episode from that season is actually "The Little Chill", with the writers updating us on what happened to my beloved Lost Girls, but "Out of Peekskill" parts 1 and 2 help elevate that whole season. She could always be a snob. But she was far more than that, in the beginning. Lorimar Television 09-29-2021, 08:56 PM I think Natalie too, but Nancy is a good option if lost girls are included RetroGuy2000 09-30-2021, 04:16 PM I think Natalie too, but Nancy is a good option if lost girls are included Lost Girls are always included on this forum!:lol::lol::lol: '80sSitcoms 10-01-2021, 10:28 AM Lost Girls are always included on this forum!:lol::lol::lol: It used to be Jo, now it's the Lost Girls. RetroGuy2000 10-01-2021, 12:04 PM ^ Hey, I don't mind including Jo. Jo is my least favorite of the eight, as well. I don't like the fact that they decided to "Fonzie up" the show. Brandon Tartikoff saw Little Darlings and so the writers photocopy the LD script and have Kristy McKeon steal the school van. These are the origins of Jo. valentina warner 10-01-2021, 07:21 PM Now guys, what would the JO fans say lol??? (only kidding) I am quite surprised to hear that JO was your least favourite of the gang Retro, but as a 'LOST GIRLS' fan i understand.... (she clashed well with BLAIR though) RetroGuy2000 10-01-2021, 07:28 PM Now guys, what would the JO fans say lol??? (only kidding) I am quite surprised to hear that JO was your least favourite of the gang Retro, but as a 'LOST GIRLS' fan i understand.... (she clashed well with BLAIR though) Jo's clashes with Blair were just fine, if you ignore the origins of the Jo character as a Little Darlings rip-off. But there were clashes happening with Blair as early as a year and a half earlier. They didn't need Jo to provide a clash... Jo's flared jeans with high heels already clashed enough. valentina warner 10-01-2021, 07:44 PM Jo's clashes with Blair were just fine, if you ignore the origins of the Jo character as a Little Darlings rip-off. (after all, she already proved that she could handle BLAIR on the Pilot, when she told her she could play both nasty sisters hee hee!) party:party:party:party:party:party:party:party:party:party:party:party:party: 80s Dude 10-01-2021, 08:00 PM Growing up on a farm and experiencing rural life (like Sue Ann), I just could not relate to Jo. Indeed, we saw a bit of that in "Gossip", with clashes between both Nancy and Blair, and Jo and Blair. Then Mrs. G clashed with Tootie. Lots of clashing going on! RetroGuy2000 10-02-2021, 01:27 AM Growing up on a farm and experiencing rural life (like Sue Ann), I just could not relate to Jo. Too city for me. Wait... I thought you lived in New York? Are you telling us now you lived in Kansas City, Ontario? I did not live on a farm, but in addition to 1.5 years in Los Angeles, I also lived in the Midwest.
