Some guy, for whatever reason, identified only as 'Patty'(?!) hosted this this ZOOM reunion of a good part of the cast.
Participating in this were Will Friedel ('Eric Matthews'), Matthew Lawrence ('Jack Hunter'), Rider Strong ('Shawn Hunter'), Trina McGee ('Angela Moore'),William Russ ( 'Alan Matthews'), Betsy Randle ( 'Amy Matthews') and in their own duo appearance Bonnie Bartlett ('Lila Bolander Feeny') and William Daniels ('George Hamilton Feeny').
Any possible past or present disputes were not mentioned and they all seemed to get along quite well with the host and each other. Among other things mentioned that I would have never guessed is that Miss McGee described herself as having her kids all grown and 'happily married' despite she and her children's father having divorced in 2001 so I suppose she remarried but has kept that under the radar.
Also the cast was rather intimidated by the live bear that was on the set during the episode in which Eric somehow thought it would help bring business for the family sporting good store.
Miss Randle said that she was initially intimidated by the thought of Olivia Hussey (who'd played Juliet in 1968) guesting but, it turned out despite Miss Hussey's beauty and renown, she was quite nervous to be on a sitcom with a live audience and Miss Randle wound up holding HER hand to get her through her appearance as Topanga's austere Aunt Prudence and they wound up becoming friends.
While Miss Bartlett regaled the others about Mr. Daniel's past gourmet cooking skills, it would seem that the nonagenarian performer may have gotten to frail to continue cooking (and he totally forgot about having led the other male performers and hamming it up during the 'Hot Stuff' dance until the clip was shown and he seemed embarrassed over it).
Mr. Russ said that his fave memory was seeing the younger cast in Halloween costumes going from the onset school to the set with Will Friedel and Rider Strong costumed as Batman and the Joker (though they didn't spell out which was the Caped Crusader and which was his worst nemesis). However, they all had a good laugh recalling the absent Ben Savage having costumed himself that year as ,of all people, Howard Stern(!?!).
Matthew Lawrence extolled being newly married and getting a new dog while Rider Strong talked about putting his 6-year-old son in first grade (the boy having done kindergarten via ZOOM due to the pandemic). On the other end of the scale Miss Randle talked about being happy to see her son and grandkids again after over a year and half of being stuck in Sweden due to her daughter-in-law's job there and the whole family celebrating her and her husband's 50th anniversary. Miss Bartlett talked about her and Mr. Daniels sending their youngest grandchild off to start NYU while their elder granddaughter is on the way to be becoming a doctor despite 'years and years of work and money, money, money' which got both Miss Randle and Miss McGee to laugh in sympathy (though she didn't mention that she and Mr. Daniels have been married 70 years as of June) . Oddly enough Mr. Strong didn't bring up his son's mother (who he's still married to) nor did Mr. Friedel bring up his own wife and Mr. Russ failed to bring up his longtime spouse and their family as well.
Interestingly enough all the regular adult performers admitted to having been nervous before performances while the younger performers initially claimed not to have been but then admitted that there were times they too felt intimidated.
Although at one point, Mr. Strong, Miss McGee, Mr. Friedle, Miss Bartlett and Mr. Daniels were all scheduled to be in the Comic. com of Salt Lake City starting Thursday, September 16th, none of them mentioned anticipating appearing there in their 'current or future plans') .
Why Ben Savage, Danielle Fishel or Maitland Ward didn't participate in this was not discussed.
Did anyone else catch it (and it's on a site that rhymes with Brew Snoob).?
