I think it might be great. He's always interesting in interviews, has known lots interesting celebrities, a lot of actresses, had a famous father, and always has been freewheeling yet intelligent in every interview of him I've seen. Even the interviewers are usually impressed by the wild stories and time spent with him. In fact, I'd like to see it as an oral biography. Three hundred pages of him being asked in-depth questions by a good interviewer. It would probably be an amazingly interesting book.

I know that he didn't like Russell Crowe's portrayal of his father in Cinderella Man (2005). He's shown as being a rude womanizer and proudly boasts about the boxers he killed in the ring.

Max said that his dad was a kind man who was forever troubled after Frankie Campbell's death in the ring and used a good portion of his boxing earnings to help support Campbell's family.

As we all know many books written by celebrities' tend to pull punches as well as recycle stories told many times before. I don't know if that's just a factor of time or the plain fact that to them this was a job. They worked did what they had to do and went about their business at the end of the day. I hope Max does write a book but if he does give it some real depth and perception.

I think if he had intended to write a book he would have done so by now. I think it's good to see someone that hasn't tried to cash in on a quick buck. It wouldn't be a huge seller anyway.

There were all kinds of opportunities to write backstories about the Filmways shows. I'm not up on it but there must be something out there.

As I see the show, Jethro was always in schemes of doing crazy professions. Max was age 30 in 1967 and his character never mature much. I wonder if ever spoke with the writers. I know Ted Knight of MTMoore show wanted Ted Baxter to change a bit and in later seasons he married and had a family .

I remember seeing a video with Baer where he talked about starting his Beverly Hillbillies Casino. According to this article, he used some of his money from "Macon County Line" and "Ode to Billy Joe" to start it. Apparently it never came to full fruition. Sounds like kind of a crazy idea.
